Majestic Beast (on their MySpace) is a pretty direct Opeth / Grand Conjuration ripoff. Still a badass tune.

| A good American band that actually somewhat innovates black metal? Surprised I haven't heard of them until recently, very awesome stuff either way. Also, new Amorphis album is pretty awesome and it's around in pretty decent quality. |

| Amorphis sort of mirrored In Flames for me. Totally enjoy Karelian Isthmus, Privilege of Evil and Tales From the Thousand Lakes, but everything after was not interesting to me at all. Kind of like In Flames where everything after Whoracle = fail. |

| In Flames was the first 'real' metal band I got into. It was sometime between Clayman and Reroute to Remain. I'm not too into the stuff that's pre-Whoracle, Colony was hit and miss, Clayman might be my favorite and then it just depends after that. I had heard of The Funeral Pyre before, don't think i'd heard any of their music though. I'm enjoying it so far though.

Ever since, I just can't NOT hear the damn keyboard all the time. Edit: Killswitch, I think I actually saw that band play at an Irish Pub (of all places) in Sydney. I got stuck at the airport after missing my connecting flight home, and did the noble thing and got fucking plastered and wandered around. Found an Irish pub (score, I'm Irish, but more than that, I love beer) and lo and behold, they had a pretty sick stage setup and were having some sort of metalfest there that night. Australia has a pretty sick metal scene apparently, just about every band was awesome. (Would rep you for that post, but blah blah spread more around bug )

| Eh, never liked the hardcore influenced stuff. Here's some (apparently categorized as) avant garde death/black metal from Australia with a pretty unique sound and an audible bass: Stargazer. They have some older tracks on there, but everything from latest album is just awesome. |
