OiNK invites

I wouldn't normally post this but I am maxed out on invites and am basically wasting two per month because I've already invited all my close friends. So I'm going to offer a few to the community here to clear up space. Keep reading before you click that PM button though...

First off, if you registered here in Dec. '06 or have like 5 posts ever, don't waste your time or my inbox space. This is more or less first come first serve, but I'm not giving out invites to people I don't at least recognize, or to people I think are fucktards. Not trying to be a dick (at least not any more than usual), but if you fuck up and break the rules there my account will get jacked and I will not be happy about losing all my future invites, or worse my account that has a ratio high enough that I can download almost a terabyte before getting into trouble. :P Don't ask if you aren't going to use it or you have a connection which isn't going to allow you to do enough seeding to meet ratio requirements, because you'll just lose access in a month or so.

If you don't know what OiNK is, it's a torrent site for music and comics. Probably the best for music, and it's pretty good for comics.

If you're interested and you read the second paragraph, send me a PM with your email address. Make sure this email address has never been registered with Oink before, and especially has never been registered and banned for not meeting quota.

OiNK is indeed badass. Anyone listening to a lot of music and knows how to actually seed their shit is missing out if not already apart of it. Like he said don't waste the invites, I gave one of mine to a girl who lives near me and she was banned pretty much within a month.

Unfortunately I have pretty much had bad luck giving out invites to oink. For some reason nobody ever seeds enough so they can't d/l shit.

Same, I just checked my invite tree and apparently none of the people I've ever given an invite to have managed to keep their account. I don't really get what's so hard about seeding... hell, I only had 40kbps upstream until late last year and I managed. I never seed anything on a RIAA label though, so I can get away with seeding 24/7 without worrying about a cease and desist.

I had a real problem seeding at first. I left about 40 albums on all the time and could never get my ratio healthy. The open season at holiday caught me up so I could DL a lot more, and now I reguarly seed 150+ albums 24/7 and that gets me just enough to stay about even these days.

Filling other people's FLAC requests helps a lot. I got to power user in just a few days from that and now I have about a 3.75 ratio on 60+GB downloaded. The xmas thing definitely helped a lot, I was in the mid-2's til then.

I absolutely love Oink....but ever since I moved and switched to DSL I can't seed. Its pissing me off, I've tried everything. I'm using the same router...the port is forwarded correctly..I've changed ports and tried again. I have no software firewalls, disabled the hardware firewall, tried using DMZ...I don't know what else to try. I'm wondering if its possibly my Qwest DSL? I use utorrent and I get the stupid yellow exclamation mark thing implying my port isn't forwarded..but it is!

Grr...so yeah, my ratio sucks right now. Luckily I'm still below the 5GB limit when the ratio requirements kick in. Any one have any advice?

I'll have to read up on this, this is new to me. But then again, I'm a junkie when it comes to purchasing music and I don't think I've ever DL'ed any music at all. At most, I'll copy a CD onto the comp and thats about it. I have a bad habit of buying stacks of other peoples used music.

Don't send me an invite; I know I won't use it more than likely. I'm not a purist when it comes to purchasing music, just habit I guess. Maybe I've been missing out all this time. /shrug Considering my musical tastes, I probably am.

I will look into it at the very least, so as to not be totally ignorant, and it looks interesting anyways.

Well it'd try my luck but knowing that my ratio regarding seeding will suck, I guess I'll stick to the "anonymous"/ego torrent sites. Or just jack a lot from Ham's site.

Prescient gave me an invite about 2weeks ago and at first I was in trouble heh. The Rosetta Stone torrent messed me up good, only because I didn't realize I would download over at 1mbs..I just wanted the spanish...I know now to set the do not download right away..(I left the comp for a few mins...)

Good thing about that was I learned how to rip/make torrents..I had a few flac I put up , and also jumping on something from the start and seeding ...I am a poweruser now (donated too) so it all worked out. I am just hoping I don't get capped by Opt Online again=( gonna have to get boost to reset it , don't want 2 marks on account (not mine..heh)


I download the popular torrents at Oink which is a way to find new music for me ,but I mostly use allofmp3 and listen to everything they release from 2000 and up...been working pretty good, not sure where else to listen to full albums right away for free..I do buy something if I can't find it anywhere...

So other then uploading, I figure that it seems the way to get the a good ratio is download some torrents that only have 1-2 people seeding them, then seed them myself for a while. Doing that as we speak. Make sense?
