The Postal Service.

Anyone know if they're coming out with a new album anytime soon? Give Up was one of my favorite albums for the past few years.

Highly doubtful. A collab like that was an amazing experiment that worked out awesomely for use listeners. Who knows if they'll get back and do it again.

Another album would be great, but I have heard of no such thing. The Postal Service is amazing.

I'd rather they didnt do another album. I dont want something delaying more Death Cab.

I love Death Cab, not really a fan of the postal service.

My roommate ran into Ben Gibbard at Red Mill Burgers in Seattle. He said they are working on another Postal Service album.

I just hope Death Cab is not going on a downward spiral. There last CD was OK, compared to their older stuff. Im not saying I was the 1st, but ive been pumping Death Cab through my speakers for almost 4 years now. I know the same thing happend to The Get Up Kids...the last CD they pumped out sucked, because it seemed they became to big, and record companies want this from them.

I used to feel the same about "Plans" but the more and more I listened to it the more I realized its a very good album, much stronger than I originally thought.

I like Transatlantacism more, but Plans is still a good album. Im just worried too much success of Postal Service is going to end up with Gibbard leaving Death Cab.

And I don't know why people keep saying, "if you like death cab listen to the postal service." They're not similar at all.

Sure they are, the writing is similar and obviously they have the same lead vocalist. The difference is obviously its more upbeat and 'dance sounding' with beats and keyboards instead of guitar and the overall style of the song. I don't personally know anyone who likes one but not the other.

I don't know why you would think he would leave Death Cab for the postal service. The Postal service isn't as popular as death cab after post-OC success (shit they sold out a HUGE arena here in Houston a month in advance) and the postal service has bigger 'names' attached to it (lewis and tamborello) so he's likely not to get the same type of royalties he has with DC FC. Though I guess since the band has made so many albums it's possible he can think he's lost a creative way to write music for them. I hope he keeps doing both personally and wouldn't mind another All-Time Quarterback album either (though clearly the weakest of his 3 projects). Anyone into postal service should really listen to Dntel too, Tamborello is good shit.

Also something funny I never knew:
In 2004, the United States Postal Service sent the band a cease and desist letter citing their trademark on the phrase "postal service". After negotiations, the USPS relented, allowing the band use of the trademark in exchange for promotional efforts on behalf of the USPS and a performance at their annual National Executive Conference. Additionally, the USPS website sells the band's CDs

Isn't it strange, I LOVE the Postal Service, but I fucking HATE Death Cab for Cutey.

Like, Death Cab makes me want to vomit and snap the neck of an indy-punk.

The only thing better than Death Cab dying would be if Bright Eyes was in the helicopter with them.

Hehe. I normally wouldn't nit pick, but if you don't like the sound of a death cab (or bright eyes) album, just start listening to the next album. Both tend to verge off into completely different styles musically every album.

Although, I can't say I'm surprised to know that most people who got into ben's works though give up or plans would not enjoy his earlier works. Wayyyyyyyy different.

I used to feel the same way about death cab. Most likely because they became associated with the O.C. but that's a whole other topic. I have slowly begun to like death cab. If you give music a chance, it will grow on you.
