| BUBBLES THE MONKEY!!! | Man who sold the world should of been higher for one. Also, their lake of fire cover of the meat puppets song also should of been on there. How the hell the RUN DMC/Aerosmith shit made is beyond me. That's not a fucking cover. It's a fucking guest appearance in which he raps. I was expecting to see AFI's cover of The Boy Who Destroyed the World on there and was very surprised it wasn't on there since they had other Bowie covers. Also, I loved Anberlin's cover of Love Song by The Cure. There have bee like, dozens of covers of that song. I was pretty shocked one didn't make the list.

ANYWAY!! Orgy - Blue Monday is an unavoidable New Order cover that is great. I've heard some great covers by The Flaming Lips, namely "Bohemian Rhapsody" & "Knives Out" As for the NIN & Cash versions of "Hurt", I agree that the music video for Cash's "Hurt" is REALLY powerful. I hated his version of "Hurt" until I watched the music video and shed tears (no joke). I prefer the NIN version, but the Cash version is just great too, even if people in Oklahoma think Cash wrote "Hurt" for his wife.... *sigh* But it's all better than Van Morrison's cover of "Comfortably Numb" which is similar to death.

| Some may think it's blasphemous, but I definitely feel that this song sound so much better with Aerosmith doing it #67 "Come Together" by Aerosmith ORIGINAL ARTIST: The Beatles And I'm just awed to learn that this was a cover tune for the byrds....I had no idea this wasn't an original by them. #27 "Turn Turn Turn" by The Byrds ORIGINAL ARTIST: God |

| I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought this. It's boring and lame. I don't get how any part of that cover can be considered noteworthy.

| Man, how can they have left out Nikki French's TOTALLY ROCKING cover of Bonnie Tyler's 'Total Eclipse of the Heart!' I kid, I kid! Something tells me that is going to have a place on their 'worst covers' list, hehe. That was a pretty interesting list all told; I personally had no idea 'Cum on Feel the Noize' was originally done by Slade. I also like the respect the list gave to Johnny Cash on 'Hurt'; that's one of the very few songs that will send shivers up my spine when I hear Cash sing it. I think its because I have alot of hate for Trent Reznor; to hear the Nine Inch Nails version, I think, 'whoopdy do, won't this emo bastard just die already?'. For Cash though, its like 'good god, this man is pouring his heart out in this song'. You can actually imagine him killing himself at the end of it, its that powerful and emotional. Just my take on it though, I'm a big Cash fan. Perhaps the only person alive with an ipod that features Johnny Cash right alongside Galloglass, Hammerfall and Gamma Ray, heh. |

| Bah, I'm sure there's at least one other geek metal fan around these parts who would have smiled inside if Hammerfall's cover of "Man on the Silver Mountain" was on that list somewhere. ![]() |

| It may have been listed in one of the GNR Youtube clips, but I'm at work and can't click random videos... Sweet Child O Mine - When McCartney sang this at the Super Bowl all I could think was "man, half the audience is wondering why you are singing a GNR song". It falls into the category of the song now belonging to the guy who sang the cover. All Along the Watchtower was listed for the Jimi Hendrix version, but the Dave Mathews version was pretty kick ass as well. And I'll put Cartman singing Come Sail Away as maybe not historic and great, but top 10 memorable. I'd also purge every mention of Britney Spears from that list, even if the other artist did a good job. You have to draw the line somewhere. |
