+29 Internets | Your Mix Suggestions, Please! I'm not much into following what's popuar and cool these days in music, so I'm looking for some help here. Basically I want to make several to half a dozen mix CD's. What will these CD's be used for, you ask? I signed up to "guide" with a ski touring company this year. It's not a paid position or anything, I basically just make sure everyone gets on the bus when we leave town and the stops along the way, hand out lift tickets, make sure everyone's having a good time, get roaring drunk, then attempt to ski double black diamonds with a raging hangover the next day and repeat the process for 1-2 more days. I'd just go skiing on my own if that wasn't kind of boring, and it's really fun times. So yeah, picture this if you will: a large bus full of 40 to 50 people, typically in their mid-20's with some up to their 40's, on a 6-8 hour bus ride on a Friday night, most of whom are half gunned before they even get on the bus at 5:30pm (some buses will party the entire way, some will past out halfway through, it really depends). What specific songs and bands would you recommend for a mix? I'm looking for quite eclectic stuff, from rap/hip-hop, to pop, to rock, to dance music, a mix of new and old etc. Give me one or give me twenty, anything helps. I'll just throw the suggestions on to a bunch of CD's and call it good. The company gave us some mix CD's, but they were god awful, and my last bus nearly had a heart attack when I but on Downward Spiral (Dookie was popular, though!). Suggest away! PS: "Sexyback" will be on all mix albums. Last edited by Eomer : 12-20-2006 at 04:23 PM. |

+29 Internets | I try to avoid popping on any DVD's on the drive on Friday, it kills any partying going on. That shit is for the drive back. People get hyponotized by video so goddamn quick it's kind of hilarious. Keep in mind that the bus is cramped as fuck, so it's not like there's a lot of bumping and grinding going on. At least, so long as we aren't hitting a deer (first trip lucky, I guess). And are you seriously suggesting I put two songs on repeat for 7 hours? You can do better! |

+29 Internets | Basically I'm just looking for some good music that out of 40+ people, only a few will complain, and can be withstood for hours on end. It doesn't even have to be "party" music really. I just mentioned Sexyback jokingly, because that song is a definite guilty pleasure of mine. Dunno why, but I love it. |

| When I use to fix computers at the place I use to work at I controlled the stereo most of the time because I had all the music. I will list some bands that most of the people wanted me to play all the time. Death From Above 1979 (Alt Rock) Easy Star All-Stars (Reggae) A Tribe Called Quest (Hip-Hop) Faith No More (Metal) Lagwagon (Punk) Blackalicious / Gift of Gab (Hip-Hop) Devin The Dude (Hip-Hop) And some more off the wall stuff, that either 1/2 liked and the other hated and vice versa. But those are the ones everyone liked. We also listened to a lot of Comedy albums to make the day go by without people bitching about work.

+2 Internets | This is partially representative of what I would like to hear on a party bus, morely representative of what I think the masses would like to hear. It is in no way complete, and it's done off the top of my head so spelling might be off or I may have made up a few song titles. Say you have room for 20 songs on an avergae CD, here's how I would make it up: 2 - Songs to keep people happy. Music that most people don't enjoy, like Metal (metal heads will appreciate a Pantera song, some will cry for Dimebag) and Hardcore Rap. 4 - Songs from our youth. Popular Music from 10-15 years ago. 3 - Songs from our parent's youth. Classic songs that never die and appeal to every generation. 11 - Mainstream songs you hear on the radio. I would say 60/20/20 for ratios of Hip-hop/rock/pop, but that's debatable. Fergie - London Bridge Fergie - Fergelicious Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc. Gorillaz - DARE Rolling Stones - Let's Spend the Night Together Led Zeppelin - Babe I'm Gonna Leave You Kanye West - Diamonds are Forever (non-remix version) Black Eyed Peas - My Humps Black Eyed Peas - Like That Black Eyed Peas - Dum Diddly Black Eyed Peas - Feel It Black Eyed Peas - Dirty Dancing (Havana Nights Soundtrack) Bob Marley - Jammin' Justin Timberlake - My Love K-Os - Crabbuckit K-Os - Man I Used To Be Nine Inch Nails - Only Johnny Cash - The Ring of Fire Akon - Smack That [hate this song personally, but it seems to be hot right now] Scissor Sisters - Don't Feel Like Dancing Scissor Sisters - She's My Man Scissor Sisters - I Can't Decide Gnarls Barkley - Crazy Nelly Furtado - Promicuous Hinder - Lips of An Angel [another hot song that I despise] Ben Harper - Burn One Down Cake - The Distance Chamillionaire - Riding Dirty Electric Six - Dance Commander Electric Six - Gay Bar Electric Six - Dance Epidemic Dire Straights - Sultans of Swing Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out Matthew Good - Alert Status Red Pantera - I'm Broken/Cowboys From Hell/Walk [choose one, too much will scare people off] Moist - Resurrection Queen - Bohemenian Rhapsody Red Hot Chilli Peppers - [most of it's good, old or new] Sting & The Police - Roxanne Sublime - Doin' Time Sublime - Smoke Two Joints The Clash - Rock The Casbah The Gypsy Kings - Bumbalaya [no idea on the spelling or song title] Usher ft. Lil' John - Yeah Outkast - Hey Ya! Beyonce - [her new song will be about 200% saturated in two weeks with radio play, should keep the masses happy.

| I always find the songs people enjoy the most is remixes of old popular songs. Whether it's punk/electronic/metal or whatever. People just love hearing something remade in a different style. There are tons of techno remixes of songs out there. Fight for your right, remixed by Junkie XL is fun. Gimme all your lovin' by Heavydance...you get the picture. A good band to check out for covers of old classics is Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. They are a punk band that exclusivly covers old songs, they don't write any of thier own stuff. There's something about hearing shit like 'Stand by your man" and "I will survive" done as punk that people think is hilarious. "Oops I did it again", covered by Children of Bodom is pretty funny, as is "The Final Countdown" done by Norther, if you wana check out any metal covers. |
