Flesh Field
DJ? Acucrack
Christopher Lawrence - Subculture 01 (haven't gotten into anything else he's done, but I've had this album for months and still listen to it 4-5 times a week)
Wrecked Machines

and I don't care how mainstream they get, I still love Crystal Method's old stuff and pretty much everything by Juno Reactor.

Autechre - doesn't get better than this..but you must listen
Aphex Twin (not Twins..getting this wrong is a shame since he is pretty much the pioneer in electronic music)

To be honest I'm far from any sort of expert on the general genre, however I'm kinda surprised that Trance was mentioned and that none of these names popped up:

DJ Tiesto
Infected Mushroom
BT

As far as favorite albums from those groups:
DJ Tiesto - Parade of Athletes
Infected Mushroom - Classical Mushroom
BT - Movement in Still Life / Emotional Technology

Some other groups/CDs that I also enjoy to a lesser extent:

Talamasca - Zodiac
DJ Encore - Intuition

And not really electronica, but seems to have a strong electronica influence and makes for a great blend:
Imogen Heap - Speak for Yourself

Infected Mushroom uses a great range of different sounds and instruments, and BT also has quite a bit of variety to the music. Not intentionally plugging any music service, but napster also has access to most of these albums listed above.

(downloading Cascada's albums now based on the recommendations here. Great to see a lot of groups I haven't heard of mentioned here-- hoping to find some new good music)

I am not sure if Zurren must be praised or cursed for linking dozens of hours of music...

In any case I'll add PanSonic to the mix (somewhere on the blury boundaries between minimal techno, ambient and noise). Oh and Martin Console for the electronic sound with pop power and the french people from Octet for some warmth made of 1s and 0s.

Gahid, you are probably the first person I've heard mention Asian Dub. Picked them up used and thought they were pretty good.

I don't want to be nitpicky, but...

Richard James is Aphex Twin and AFX (and rarely, I guess, Polygon Window, but I've never seen it). Of course I only knew that because a friend turned me on the the Analogue Bubblebath series, and I had never heard of AFX at that point - so I had to look AFX up. I still tank to it in WoW - odd I know /shrug, but it makes decent background music...and vents just peeps arguing about stupid shit.

Of course if you already knew that and were listing them seperate on purpose, then disregard

I cannot stand Happy Hardcore anymore, I got burned out while I still went to events, almost 8 or 10 years ago (about the time the next generation of kids moved into the scene, and authorities started cracking down). I got to the point I wanted to start grabbing whistles and choking people. But to each their own I guess, I still have some HH I picked up, but its all buried under stuff I do listen to.

Also agree with the Daft Punk sentiment 100%.

Some others off the top of my head (random smattering, not trance I know):

- Daft Punk
- Richard James
- Cirrus
- Orbital
- Underworld
- Electric Skychurch
- Future Sounds of London
- 808 State
- Talvin Singh
- DJ Shadow
- DJ Logic
- DJ Dieselboy

One track I wish I could host, is "Endor Fun" by LCD. Picked up a used compilation disc with that on it for like $3 (everyone needs a hobby I guess), and the track just trips me out. I need to remember to pick up the LCD album it was originally on and hope its decent. Both the 'Doom' intro, and the ewoks, cracks me up.

Anyone remotely interested in Hard Electro (:W:, Hocico, etc.) needs to go download the new Punto Omega album, Nostalgias del Origen, now. Best release in the genre in at least a decade.

I say download because it's current only available as a limited edition import box set. For people who like it as much as I do and decide to buy it, go through Metropolis Records mail order and you'll save $8 over Amazon.

Voodoo and Serano are actually one of my favorite DJ's/Producers/Whatever they are - at the moment. Them and Warp Brothers, which is probably because they basically have the same sound. And Yes, I will admit that blood is pumpin is more that likely over played, but you could say the same thing about "Phat Bass" by the Warp Brothers. Surprinsgly (or not) they both share a very similar bassline. Despite the fact that you cannot stand the song, i highly recommend looking up their other tracks - just about every one of them is high energy and catchy as all hell.. "Overdrive" and "Blast the Speakers" are two of my all time favs. Believe both are done by the Warp Brothers, look for remixes, as they are usually gold, too. If only my harddrive didnt shit the bed, I had a ton of great techno on it, and being the idiot that I am, didnt back 90% of it up. Jonah has some great tracks too, although I can only think of one song, "Be Quiet". Spacecorn has a killer remix of Axel F, and not that ungodly Silly Frog or whatever he calls himself. And I cannot believe I left out Daft Punk earlier. Someone shoot me for that. Those two put out the only CDs that I blindly buy without hearing note one. Can't think of anymore off the top of my head, besides, this ended up being a lilttle long winded. Out.

Ultimate techno newb here. But what's that one techno song they use in a lot of movie trailers its very synthy and seems to have string instruments in it as well. Usually used in action sequences etc.

Im sure that description helps you a lot, lol.

I like Rabbit in the Moon, Dynamix II, Aphex Twin, Roni Size, Orbital, Uberzone, AK1200, Freestylers, etc.

As stupid as it sounds, ever since I left the rave/club(read: drugs) scene, I don't really listen to electronic music much any more. I find myself gravitating back toward hard rock/metal these days.

Maybe Clubbed to Death by Rob Dougan? That song is used everywhere.

(awesome video too... worth watching even if it's not the right song)
