Damien Rice - 9

So his new album is coming out soon. Anyone heard anything about it yet?

I love Damien Rice for the unpredictability factor. One second it will be a beautiful soft song with curious lyrics and the next he'll burst into a chorus of "FUCK YOU"s, transforming it into both a beautiful, and kick ass song.

I've got it (will 'share' per request via PM) - I also have a lot of his unreleased and live music and a few videos from some smaller venue shows he's done. He's one of my favorite artists.

I have been eagerly awaiting a new CD from him for a long time. I'm kind of happy he has stayed the same. He seems to have pulled Lisa Hannigan away from the spotlight on this CD, which I believe since they aren't a true 'band' they should work on their own music but still sing together since their voices compliment one another's so well.

And yeah, Proc, I was just telling Janx that I loved Damien so much because he would start a song off sounding so sweet and randomly "fuck you" comes out of nowhere (assuming you're talking about Rootless Tree).

I really like Rootless Tree, 9 Crimes (I adore Lisa), Coconut Skins and Grey Room. I really doubt he will ever -not- be one of my favorite artists, he is very unique and maintains that each time he comes out with new material.

Anyone who has been a fan of his for a while should pick this CD up (or download it, whatever you fancy). Two thumbs up from me! Music is great and so are the lyrics, just as I had expected.

I also want to go on record and say that "The Professor and La Fille Danse" has the best build up/ending to a song, ever. I can just picture him saying in his mind "Aww, fuck it. I'm just going to sing in French and make random noises and shit."
