Borknagar: Origin

Just picked this up and am currently in the midst of my first listen. So far the flutes are amazing and really stand out. This was definately an excellent direction to take the band in for this record. 2 thumbs up

Meh, I don't really like it when Metal bands do a non-metal album. I listen to metal bands for metal, I hate waiting a year or two for a band I like to release something and it isn't even their genre.

I didn't like Damnation by Opeth for this same reason, and they are probably my favorite band. Yes it's ok music, but it's not why I listen to them. That probably sounds lame, but that's just me I guess.

With all that said, Origin is a good album, but I'll probably never listen to it more than a couple of times.

Drudkh's "Non-Metal" album is decent, but I really prefer Borknagar's first two albums to all of their later works. These last 2 releases have been crap IMO.
