The FoH MixTape

So if you were to create a mix-tape for the boards (12-15 songs) what songs would you add? Just don't use the same artist more than twice.

If possible try to avoid putting bands like metallica and coldplay. Bands where everyone is familiar with their music, make this more of a 'here are 15 bands I recommend and here's a song to get you started that i love' almost.

What a coincidence, I just finished making some mix CDs for a friend coming to town. She moved away to NY about 4 months ago, and has had my previous mix CDs on permanent rotation.

This is 'Audio Xanax'. It's meant to be listened to when on crazy drugs, trying to sleep, calm down, for studying etc..

Young Folks - Peter Bjorn and John
Sugarcube - Yo La Tengo
Cherry Blossom Girl - Air
Almost Crimes - Broken Social Scene
Milk Man - Deerhoof
Fortress- Pinback
Saeglopur - Sigur Ros
Two Hearts in 3_4 Time - The Avalanches
Moments in Love - The Art of Noise
Haiti- The Arcade Fire
You remind me of home - Ben Gibbard/Andrew Kenny (HOME album)
Suddenly is Sooner - Dntel
Natural Anthem - The Postal Service
Year of the Dog - Sufjan Stevens
We are what you say - Sufjan Stevens (I know you said not the same artist, But, this is what I did on the CD, on purpose, she knows Illinoise/Seven swans stuff. I think she'll find his electronic stuff, like 'year of the dog', interesting.)
Goodnight and Go - Imogen Heap

Gonna post a different CD in another post.

The last cd I made for some friends, which ended up getting called 'Sleepy time tea party', was made for coming down from an acid traip. It had M83. I was trying to avoid repeating too much the same bands I put on that one.

In case you care, that one was
Touched - Vast
Beautiful Spain - Venus hum
Don't save us from the flames - M83
Walking with a Ghost - Tegan and Sara
Staring at the Sun - TV on the radio
Pachuca Sunrise - Minus the Bear
Jazzalude - Basement Jaxx (this is where the CD starts slowing down)
Heartbeats - Jose Gonzalez
Dream of Evan and Chan remix (ft Barbara Morgenstern) - Dntel
Laughing City - Eisley
Penelope - Pinback
Cartwheels - Reindeer Section
Cinders and Smoke - Iron and Wine

Opeth - Bleak (Blackwater Park)
Sub Dub Micromachine - Bullshit (Rabautz)
Dragonforce - Black Winter Night (Valley Of The Damned)
Acid Drinkers - When You Say to Me 'Fuck You' (Say It Louder) (Rock Is Not Enough)
Shattersphere - The Concept of Infinity (Shattersphere)
Down - Ghosts Along The Mississippi (Down II A Bustle in Your Hedgerow)
Drain S.T.H. - Simon Says (Freaks Of Nature)
Heavensdust - Before I Die (Higher Than Heaven, Louder Than God)
Mushroomhead - Solitaire Unraveling (XX)
Strapping Young Lad - S.Y.L. (Heavy as a Really Heavy Thing)
Devin Townsend - Bad Devil (Infinity)
Reveille - What You Got (Bleed The Sky)
Leaves' Eyes - Elegy (Vinland Saga)
Sirenia - Voices Within (An Elixir For Existence)

Edit: Added album names to make searching easier since this is suppose to be stuff people don't know all that well.

Is it any surprise to me that I've never even heard of any of the songs/bands mentioned in this thread? I suppose it shouldn't be...but yet, somehow it still is.
