Your local bands thread.

Theres great bands all over the place that never make it. Post your favorite bands that are in your area.

Jonezetta - Indie Rock

Kerygma - Metal

(technically Jonezetta isn't really a local band any more since they were recently signed to Tooth and Nail/Solid State Records...but I still consider them local since their drummer sleeps in my brother's living room)

Also feel free to post the local bands that suck.

Twelve Winters - Metal

I only listen to a few local bands from my town of Santa Rosa, CA....

One is very good and becoming quite popular around the world (big in Japan, tour Europe now, etc). I just saw them at the Health & Harmony Festival at our Fairegrounds the other night.
That band is The Velvet Teen, popular enough to be on Amazon.com:
The Velvet Teen

Two other bands I like from my town that aren't as popular are an instrumental group called The Comalillies, and my friends band J, D, and the Whiskeys.

It's nice to see a couple of these bands scrape up that hard to find $25 to register a domain and pay for hosting, instead of using MySpace.

meh most of these bands have a real webspace I'm sure. myspace is nice because you can play up to 4 of their songs with no risk of them being downloaded and without using your own bandwidth.

I dunno what you're talking about, I think music is myspaces only good use :/

I love hearing about a band, typing in their myspace and listening to a few songs in like 10 seconds.

The Evpatoria Report a pretty cool post rock band from Switzerland. Pretty indie as far as I can tell by looking at the odd cardboard boy the CD came into!

Probably not something that any of you will care to listen to...its basically just good ol' rock n roll. Three guys that are the most down to earth, music living and breathing sweethearts ever. They're a trio...the guitarist and bassist are the duo lead singers, drummer sings backup.

www.downandabove.com

If you can get ahold of the song Dirge, that's a good example. Their songs have some beautiful two and three part harmonies..as all three are great vocalists. These guys are personal faves of mine, but could be because I'm friends with them.

I used to like Quietdrive, but they're kinda lame now. http://www.quietdrivemusic.com/

And Dropping Daylight are pretty fucking emo, but their keyboardist/singer is such a talented musician. www.droppingdaylight.com

It may just be because I see these guys play all the time and they have an awesome live show, but may I recommend Grip.

The singer can sound a little wierd some times, but it works for some reason.
