I once met one of the best rappers ever, and old school guy named "Big Daddy Kane." Most rappers nowadays will give him props for paving the way for them. There was recently a tribute to him on VH1, where the new artists did his songs in homage to him. Any way, I met him at an amusement park in Pennsylvania (even though he was from New York city). I asked him why he went all the way to PA to an amusement park, when there were some better ones in NJ. His comment is that not as many people knew him in PA. If he were to walk the streets, your average drug dealer or street thug might try to fight with him, or take out his gun and open fire. His comment was, that on the streets, the thugs wanted to put rappers to the test and see if they were real, even if it meant getting a gun fight with them. You can read interviews with most rappers, and either they have been shot at (like 50 cents and his nine bullet wounds) or they are trying to avoid being shot.

Anyone on the same label as G-Unit and Eminem is probably going to have lots of people coming after them. These guys have beef with everyone, and 50 cent seems to go out of his way to pick fights on wax.

50 Cent got shot because he WAS a drug dealer, not because he was a rapper. And it's a fucking shame the 9th bullet didn't finish the job the other 8 should have.

As far as Proof and D12 goes, I have no idea whether or not they were involved in that sort of shit before or during their careers. It's a shame I guess, but that's what happens when you revel in that sort of a subculture. When's the last time you heard of a rock star getting shot in a gun fight? I can't think of one, but I can think of at least half a dozen to a dozen rap incidents in the past year.

Bugz of D-12 before they made any real name for themselfs was also killed. He was an awesome freestyler.

Thing with Proof is is stayed close to his roots, thats why he was out and about in a club where he was well know, with regular (or as regular as thugs are i guess) people.

"Contrary to earlier rumors and reports, D-12 member Bizarre was not involved in the incident in Detroit last night," Interscope told Allhiphop.com. "He was at home in Atlanta, Georgia."
