| Grunge? New poster, long time reader. I know most on here don't care for "grunge" type music but it is still one of my favorites. Alice In Chains is still one of my all time favorite bands. What I am looking for is a direction to look in for new music that has got that hard rock, garage rock sound. Today's music is usually either too pop or too hard for me. I hate music where the singer sounds like he has just eaten a a bowl of glass and gravel and you cant understand a word. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance |

| Listen to Clutch, they may not be exactly what you're looking for, but they're easily the best rock n' roll band of today. www.pro-rock.com |

+27 Internets | I'll probably get shouted down for even mentioning their name, but Seether kind of reminds me of grunge. Sevendust is another good hard rock band with good vocals, and occasionally two singers harmonzing a la AIC. |

+1 Internets | Sevendust is nu metal, but they are decent nu metal, not complete crap like a lot of it. Saw them a couple times in the late '90s when they were just getting started, put on a good show when they opened for Metallica and when they headlined a local show. |

| I've never really understood how Sevendust got lumped into the nu-metal genre. I guess it's because they came out around the time of Korn/LB, but they really don't sound like nu-metal. They sound more like Metallica than Linkin Park or Korn. The lead singer has a fantastic singing voice, he doesn't do the typical high pitched nasal whine that's predominant in nu-metal. |

+1 Internets | Mostly because of the time period and they fact that they use down tuned guitars, but they are definately a cut above the common nu metal crap due to Lajon being a good vocalist. |

| If you still listen to grunge... consider buying a time machine. If not check out Sleater Kinney: The Woods. It doesn't sound like grunge but those girls are good buddies with Pearl Jam. If Eddie Vetter loves them maybe you will too.
