Sunn O)))

Ok so I admit I only checked this band out cause I saw something about them on Pitchfork. I'm fine with not knowing tons about harder rock.
I'm a devoted Tool fan but that’s about it.
It was strange to see a harder band even get noticed so I went to http://www.pandora.com/ and listened to "Dylan Carlson"

I really like how it’s not just fast and agitating. It’s sort of like death ambience.
I'm posting this to introduce a new band to some people and to see what the long time fans of this music think

edit:
a link to a sample http://www.southernlord.com/images/doom.mp3

There's a spread on them in the December issue of Guitar World. I'm pretty tired of what I've already coined as "The Isis Sound", but I don't think these guys even have vocals, so I'll give it a shot. Maybe.

From what I've read / heard, they are a lot like Fantomas meets Zakk Wylde.

Ta,

They don't really sound much like ISIS, this is more like Brian Eno after listening to too much Black Sabbath. I'm going to see them with Earth next month which I'm very much looking forward to.

I've yet to get Black1 but from all the praise I've heard of it I'm looking forward to picking it up.
