So lets say I want to listen to a song before I buy it...

What's a decent torrent site for such a thing? And yes, I will go buy the CD if I like the song, I support artists...*if* their music is to my liking.

And don't say Kazaa. That's my last resort.

Thanks

http://www.pandora.com/

Also good for finding music. Btw, try Limewire before Soulseek, it's much faster and more user friendly by far.

Limewire is great for finding songs but also tends to give tons of spyware and viruses.

eMule is good. Downloads can sometimes take awhile, but they're pretty decent quality and no spyware.

As far as music and quality goes:

OiNK.me.uk > other torrent sites > soulseek > limewire > Bearshare > eMule > KaZaA

Only problem with OiNK is you need an invite.

I just started using Limewire about a week ago. This is the first time I've used any p2p software for around 5-6 years, and the last time I did I don't think the software supported anything other than .mp3 file searches/transfers. Viruses/spyware were never an issue before, and unless you can find a reliable source that claims that viruses or spyware can be transmitted through non-executable media files (i.e. .mp3 .wmv .jpg .etc) I'll keep on stealing music and porn worry-free. I don't plan on downloading any software from limewire at all.

Incidentally, the only reason I started using Limewire was to give myself something to compare All Peers to.

I tried Pandora again this weekend after Last.fm went down for some updates and I got 3 songs played 3 times in a 4 hours span.

To me pandora is better if you like a particular type of music and last.fm if you like many different kinds of music.

Edit. Oh yeah I like Soulseek much better than limewire, I got all kinds of badf files from limewire before i dropped it about a year ago

That fucking bearshare shit installs spyware when you install the program. Thanks.

I've used limewire for a while now and never had a problem. Like someone else said though I only use it for music, not programs or any exe files.

And thanks for the pandora link, very cool stuff if you are looking to find some new bands or just for a steaming radio solution.
