Damn I forgot Broken Social Scene, Of Montreal and Death From Above 1979 from my list. All 3 are def some of my favorite albums of the year.

Antony and the Johnsons is like really really mellow stuff but like something you would expect to hear in a Blues bar or something. It doesn't sound like anything else on the list... that's for sure.

p.s. fuck pitchfork.

just like everything on the internet, pitchfork should always be taken with a grain of salt.

They do review wacky shit, but choosing Illinois as the #1 album of the year is probably the most agreeable thing they could've done. For entertainment, crack open the liner notes of Illinois and see how many instruments Sufjan plays, I think it is over 30.

i like pitchfork, just cuz they hate the Volta really doesn't have any effect on my love for the Volta. When they reviewed Scab Dates, I was just going 'Oh yah, right, get it over with."

If everyone hasn't heard Scab Dates, it is really fun and recommended, and I still stand beside Wolf Parade.

I saw Death from above 1979 and I was impressed that it was 2 people but just didn't care for them, though I can see why people do like them.

anyways,

NIN - With Teeth
Opeth - Ghost Reveries
Queens of the Stoneage - Lullabies to Paralyze

wasn't much else that I was into from this year.

The man fucking excretes music. I think he played all the instruments on the Michigan album actually, and he produces so much music it's ridiculous. I keep dreading that he's going to run out of creativity or something.

jesus christ, fuck pitchfork. I went and checked out their #3 album, Art Brut - Bang Bang Rock & Roll, and it's crap.
Well, I listened to their favorite single off of it 'We formed a Band', and it's crap. It's like Sex Pistols but without any of the hook. I understand they are trying to be some kind of revolutionary indie band, and that sometimes the revolutionary stuff is quite a bit avant garde.. But, god, you can do that and still make ok songs.

Antony and the Johnsons is different, and it's definietly growing on me.

They're basically a joke band in Britain who gained noteriety for pissing off other bands, they seem to have been adopted by pitchfork as a "it looks like they're one trick ponies, but we can see hidden depths!" sort of band.

The pitchfork list isn't too bad. Interesting that they picked Sunn0))) as this years token metal band too.

I'm still loving Tournament of Hearts by The Constantines, which has (imo) bafflingly failed to appear on end of year lists despite being pretty much universally praised. My Morning Jacket and Lightning Bolt's latest albums have also had me hooked ever since I got them.

The pitchfork list does have good bands in it. Then you see said good bands lower on the list than "The Game" and you see "Cam'ron" in the Top 10 and you realize you can't take the site seriously.

What's weird is myself and all my friends prefer digital ash, but every media outlet/review site thinks its clearly weaker than morning.
