| Harder Industrial/Techno~ Alright, so generally I listen to a fairly wide variety of music although I'm not very familiar with electronic/techno/industrial musicians, so I'm wondering if I can get some recommendations. I guess what I'm looking for is a harder side of techno/Industrial. The best way I can describe it is something similar to harder Trent Renzor work minus the vocals, something with a more distorted/rough sound. No catchy pop garbage please, I don't want to rave, I want something that makes me want to kick some ass. I'm not even sure if there's any musicians out there that specificly handle this sort of thing, so post away if you have any ideas. Also if you're going to debate dumb shit like musical preferences just take that garbage to another thread; Obviously different people like different types of music, great, that's not what this thread is for. | 16volt (guitar industrial) Acumen Nation (guitar industrial) C-Drone-Defect (hard electro) Cenobita (hard electro, similar to :Wumpscut: and Hocico) Chemlab (find a song called Rivethead) Drown (industrial metal--best album is Hold On to the Hollow, but it's probably just about impossible to find now) Flesh Field (find a cd called Strain by them, it owns every other Industrial release in the last decade) Hanzel und Gretyl (guitar industrial... start with "Über Alles", the rest of their stuff probably isn't what you're looking for) Hocico (hard electro, known as the Mexican :Wumpscut: ... best album is called Odio Bajo el Alma) Kevorkian Death Cycle (hard electro, start with "A+O(m)") November17 (industrial metal, similar to Ministry except without all the heroin to make most of their songs suck... Trust No One is the name of the cd, and I would say that it is exactly what you're looking for) Necro Facility (hard electro, one of the few decent industrial cds from this year so far) Numb (hard electro, some guitars... "Wasted Sky" is still the best industrial cd of all time) Pig (Raymond Watts of KMFDM's solo project... much more experimental and less mainstream-friendly than KMFDM is) Punto Omega (hard electro, another band very similar to Hocico and good :W:) Society Burning (guitar industrial) The Clay People (guitar industrial... friends of mine from when I lived in Albany NY. Their stuff can be hard to find, but their self-titled album got pretty decent distribution) :Wumpscut: (along with Læatherstrip, the creators of hard electro... start with Bunkertor 7 or Bunkergate 7 if you can only find the US version) All of this stuff has vocals, but it's almost all really harsh vocals rather than actual singing. | Here is a couple bands you can check out that have websites with sound clips. Tactical Sekt Hocico Suicide Commando - Similar to Tactical Sekt, so if you liked those sound clips, can check out this band Wumpscut Ministry - Old school industrial metal. Check out thier earlier stuff for the good material (psalm 69, land of rape and honey, the mind is a terrible thing to taste) KMFDM - Older stuff was pretty good, newer stuff is sorta weak Just a few i could think of, i'm not a huge fan of industrial music, but that's a few bands that i do like. |

| I've heard some old Prodigy and KMFDM, I can dig it. Thanks for the suggestions and awesome list Vort, I'll look into it. Edit: Was two posts while I was making mine. I don't mind vocals, I just said without vocals since I was looking for something more instrumental based. Last edited by Daeos : 10-16-2005 at 10:52 PM. |

+3 Internets | Look into The Blackest Albums, industrial Metallica covers, most very good. I'm rather fond of Cell Dweller, but he's not quite industrial really, he swings rather emo sometimes. |

Switchback is a great song though, too bad the rest of the Cell Dweller cd isn't that good. It gets used in a lot of movie trailers, most recently Doom's. Last edited by Vorph : 10-16-2005 at 11:24 PM. | |

| Yeah, I've also heard some stuff off of the Celldweller website a while ago, wasn't too bad. I went looking for a lot of the stuff you guys listed off last night, couldn't find hosts for most of it but I did wind up with a bit of KMFDM/Prodigy. KMFDM was alright, think I scored about 15-20 songs from them, had some good stuff, but I didn't really find any songs that I thought were solid all the way through. As for The Prodigy the only two songs I've heard prior to last night were Firestarter and Smack My Bitch Up. I liked the Prodigy I managed to downloaded so much that I actually went out and bought Fat of the Land, which seems to be a good listen so far. I also managed to get a Ministry song, Destroy All, which I believe Static-X has done a cover of on their latest CD. Ministry isn't looking too bad, probably try to jack some more tonight along with taking another roll down the list of suggestions that were posted. |

| I haven't seen anybody list "Initial D 4th Stage," a fairly freaky Eurodance-type band. It's difficult to find their songs, sometimes, but if you are able to, I would recommend: Fly Away We'll See Heaven Ready to Go Let's Go, Come On There is a lot of singing, and it could easily be considered Pop, but as a Techno addict, I highly recommend it.
