Avenged Sevenfold

Has anyone else heard of or listened to this band? My old roommate slipped me their latest album this weekend and I really dont know what to think aside from really liking their name. I really dont know how to classify them, definately hard rock/metal, but just when you think you have them pegged down they do a 180 on ya. An entire song changes midstream from heavy guitars/drums to all acoustic with a spanish twang. Little twists like that are scattered throughout the album, sometimes acoustic, sometimes a full orchestra accompanyment, sometimes double bass that makes me think my speakers are gonna explode. It kinda has a retro rock feel to it, their lead guitars remind me of something I used to listen to long ago (I wanna say Ride the Lightning metallica-y stuff, but im not sure if that really describes it well).

Curious what others think about these guys if you've heard them. I wanna upload some of the mp3s somewhere but really dont have a good spot to do it, if someone knows pm me please and ill see if i can share this with you guys that wanna check em out.

I have one song by them, Warmness of the Soul I think, it came up in the favorite songs thread. It's not even close to a favorite of mine, but other than the one song I haven't heard any of their stuff.

I like Chapter Four and And All Things Will End, but that's about it - and the band is easily one of the most fagged out bunch of emo trend fags I've seen in a long while.

They've really dumbed down (and maybe wussed out a little) their sound a bit over the years. I remember catching some of their tracks on a Hopelessly Devoted To You Label Sampler about four years ago, and it was way, way, way harder than the stuff they play now.

I heard them on MTV and was like 'huh?' and then i looked at the TV and was like 'Oh hey a new Good Charlotte song, this is weird'. So I kept watching and was really confused on why Good Charlotte was covering a Dio song. And then the end of the song came and it wasnt Good Charlotte trying to cover Dio at all!

They are fairly average, untill their singer starts screaming like a fag, then they plummit into massive suckage.

Their first cd was pretty ownage imo. But their 2nd cd was lacking a bit and their newest totally sucks balls except maybe for a couple of the songs. The singer fucked up his voice and everything went downhill.

They were alright, now they play total "bro" shit. Basically they followed in the footsteps of eighteen visions and poison the well, among many other bands in that genre that went to complete crap... But hey, maybe Warner Brothers made them play that stuff. who knows.
