+1 Internets | Good Metal Bands with Female Vocalists Any suggestions for decent stuff with female lead vocals? Doesn't have to be strictly metal, but for some reason I happen to like female vocals backed up with hard rock or metal. Some of the stuff I have heard recently: Drain STH Leaves' Eyes Evanescence (Don't care for her band, but she can sing pretty well) Lacuna Coil Otep Short list so far, I am sure there's more but I don't have access to my music files at work. |

| There's Nightwish. I don't like them personally, but the girl singer has a nice voice. Sounds sorta like Lacuna Coil. You could also check out Kittie, they are an all girl band. L7 is another but they are more punk.

+1 Internets | Kittie was.... amusing, when they came out. They arn't very good however. Nightwish I have heard of too now that you mention it, didn't much care for them either. L7 however I have never heard of, will take a look at them sometime. |

| Hard to find anything outside of gothic metal that fits the bill... I really can't think of much of anything other than Arch Enemy actually. Gothic metal (female + growled male vox): Tristania Sirenia The Project Hate MCMXCIX The Sins of Thy Beloved Theater of Tragedy (try to find a song called Seraphic Deviltry) Gothic metal (female only): Alas Edenbridge Xandria Stuff I don't like but might be worth checking out: The Gathering Nightwish Some specific songs that aren't really representative of the bands' typical work: Dark Tranquillity - Shadow Duet Dark Tranquillity - Insanity's Crescendo Dark Tranquillity - UnDo Control Iced Earth - The Phantom Opera Ghost SuidAkrA - Moonlight's Shadow (Mike Oldfield cover, but I still highly recommend it. It's somewhat difficult to find because it's a hidden track on Command to Charge found after several minutes of silence on the track The End Beyond Me. If you see a 9:16 version of that song, it also contains Moonlight's Shadow) Some random industrial stuff featuring female vocals: Flesh Field (Strain is the best industrial cd released in several years, hands down) Collide (try to find a song called Violet's Dance) Chiasm (I'm not too fond of her stuff overall, but the track they used on the Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines soundtrack was excellent... it's called Isolated) Probably a lot of stuff I'm forgetting, but this is the second time typing this up after quick reply ate it all the first time. ![]() |

| hehe.. ok ham. I like Venus Hum, The New Pornographers and I've listened to some Portishead.. Good female vocalists, but I seriously doubt any of those could be considered 'metal' or even hard rock. Unless Crystara meant 'energy' behind the music. In which case, here's a little explanation of the ones I've heard for you Crystara. Venus Hum's singer can alternate between sounding like Amy Lee (Evanescence) to Bjork to Dido. The music itself is a pop techno type.. thing.. I have a hard time describing electronic music. I like them a lot though. Her voice is unbelievable. Portishead is Trip-hop. New Pornographers are a pop rock type band. Sometimes very catchy, sometimes a little annoying. |

+1 Internets | Yea I did specify that I am open to other stuff, just happen to be more focused on metal since that is what I tend to enjoy most. Based on what I have heard about the bands he listed, and what he likes based on other threads, I was sure they were not even a type of hard rock, but I will most likely take a look at them as well. |

| Hmmmm.. I also went on a similar search, and here are some results (and repeats too) of what I found: Ambeon, Arch Enemy, Hanzel Und Gretyl (not metal, closer to industrial rock), Lullacry, and Within Temptation. I found more, but I can't remember, nor did I keep anything related to them. There's definitely more though. Curve had a female vocalist.. a shame the band broke up now. |
