| 2001: A Space Odyssey + "Echoes" I don't care if this was posted yesterday or a year ago, because EVERYONE NEEDS to see this. The Setup: the 2001: A Space Odyssey DVD works fine, just go to chapter 28 i think "Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite" Then you can use a sterero, boom box, iPod, whatever, you just need the 23 minute version of "Echoes" by Pink Floyd which is found off their album Meddle. The song starts with a pinging sound. You want to select the chapter and pause it immediately. Also for the music, it's best to play it, let it ping, pause it, then start the song over again so it is paused at the beginning. Then hit play on DVD + "Echoes" and the best way i've found out if it will be a good Synch up is that the Second Ping should happen a few ticks before the title "Jupiter..." dissapears. Example: If the title card dissapears and the second ping hits afterwards, it will be off-synch. Some background is that Stanley Kubrick asked Pink Floyd if they wanted to assist on the soundtrack for 2001. Roger Waters declined and said it was his biggest regret. 2001 was released in 1968ish and Meddle by Pink Floyd was released in 1971. For those familiar with 2001, then you know the final scene is, for lack of a better term, the trippiest part of the movie. As for the song, the lyrics match up with what is going on, the song shifts at the precice points in the movie, and the beat for the jam out during the light show seems to similar. Also the song and movie end at the exact same time. Do yourself a favor and watch this, I haven't even seen the Wizard of Oz one, but i've heard 2001+Echoes is way better, and I would have to agree, this is just too fucking awesome, it's like beating the end boss in the game of music, seriously. enjoy!

| Yea, that was my bad I think. I was just quoting a stand-up comedian I've seen. He'll set it up and wait for the audience to answer though.. "You guys know that trick.. my friend showed me it.. uhh you watch Wizard of Oz with.. pink floyd.." he'll pause a lot so the audience will start blurting out stuff like the album name and that it matches up etc "..no, it's that your a loser.. yea that's what it was" I think this 2001 thing seems pretty cool, and I wouldn't be adverse to trying the Wizard of Oz thing. Especially on some psychadellics ![]() |

+8 Internets | Yes, it was with Dark Side when I watched it. Zinke screwed my head up with his erroneous post! And some "expert" synched the movie and the album up, yet I still thought it was weak. |

| I've never watched the Wizard of Oz thing just cuz, i mean, who owns a copy of Wizard of Oz that doesn't live with their parents? But you should check it out, Meddle is also considered to be one of Pink Floyd's best albums and "Echoes" is just an out of this world song by its self. Of course, bright colors in space, alien lands, old men, black monoliths and a star baby really do add to the song.

| haha, yea it does. I love David Cross. He does a similar joke with the Terror Alert on that one CD. But, I think this was some relatively unknown comedian I saw at my local comedy club. Like, he might be big on the circuit, but not well known otherwise. |

| It wasn't David Cross, but there was an episode of Mr. Show where they make copy a scene from 2001, probably one of the best episodes too. Ironically enough, the skit right before the 2001 rip is Druggachusettes, Oh, You Men!
