I was a bit confused too, then I read something in Spin that made me believe it was just a joke really. Some kind of satirical look at dance songs.

Concur on the Futureheads being amazing. I saw them live this past wednesday, and they stole the damn show.

Also, i'd recommend The (International) Noise Conspiracy.

You all need to get some taste in music.
Worshipping the futureheads, the libertines, and fucking RAZORLIGHT.

I'm astounded. Genuinely. These bands aren't worth the 10 pence CDs their records are burnt onto.

EDIT: Hot hot heat do put on a decent show - it's nice to be able to dance!

Hum, I was making a little post to say something to the effect of "harr the futureheads arn't that bad" but then I decided to listened to their CD while I wrote the post, and deleted it and wrote this instead. ya, move along..

Apologies if I missed these ones getting mentioned. They're not necessarily 'hard edged', but they're good indie rock. =) Mostly Canadian, too. First post in here, btw, although I've lurked here a very long time. =)

AC Newman -- Part of the New Pornographers. He put out a solo album late last year and it's quite good. I heard one of his songs made it onto the latest OC Mix disc, so...eh.

The Hidden Cameras - Mississauga Goddamn is a great album.

The Dears - These guys are from Montreal and recently got written up in Rolling Stone.

Sam Roberts - He's a pretty big name up in Canada, but he's got a nice classic rock feel to him and got signed off of his demo.

Broken Social Scene - Everyone's probably heard of these guys, as they blew up pretty big last year. If not, here ya go.

Joel Plaskett - Former lead singer of Thrush Hermit (another band worth checking out).
