Velvet Revolver - Slither

I really like this song a lot, saw the video a few times and downloaded the song and now I can't stop listening to it. Anyone else like this song or heard any of their other songs?

would be better if Scott Weilend would leave the band or just die.

Bought the CD, it's alright. Although I don't see how it's much different from STP. There is nothing about it musically that makes it sound any different from all the generic rock around right now, other than Weiland's voice. He could have hooked up with the remnants of Alice in Chains and I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Compare it to another recent supergroup, Audioslave, and I think it's pretty obvious that Audioslave is far superior. But what do you expect from 5 former or current raging drug addicts?

I would return the CD, had I kept the receipt, but I tossed it. No sticker on the packaging, no label on the CD case itself, but sure enough it's copy protected. Had I known, I wouldn't have bought it. Now I have a CD I will probably barely listen to after a week or two, since I primarily listen to mp3's on my home computer/stereo or portable mp3 player. I supposed I could use a file sharing program to download mp3's of it, but I gave up on those years ago when I got sick of downloading looped track after looped track after virus after scat porn.

i got bearshare for file sharing and although it has a piece of spyware attatched on the free version, it's really fast and doesn't have those looped tracks and shit you find on kazaa.

Google how to get past it, it's really easy. You probably already installed the software, but if you didn't yet, all you had to do was turn autoplay off and you can rip it fine. If you already installed the copy protection software (hit "I agree"), then you can still get past it, just google it.

I LOVE THIS ALBUM. That's about all i have to say. Go out and buy it if you love Slither, nearly every song is great. They are way better than fucking Audioslave, i have no idea what you're on Eomer.

First time I heard someone playing it, my first thought was "I didn't know STP put out a new album."

I'd agree with Eomer, Audioslave did the whole "supergroup" thing a lot better.

Scott should just keep doing drugs. I dunno why Slither is everyone's favorite song. I think Big Machine is superior and far more radio-friendly, except for the faggot boy lines.

Yeah, I agree, Big Machine is by far the most listenable track on the CD. I think Slither is alright.

As far as who is better Audioslave or Velvet Revolver, it's a matter of opinion. I just personally think that Audioslave is more of a "band" than Velvet Revolver. Put Weiland with any collection of two guitarists, a bassist, and a drummer and you would end up with something similar. Audioslave however is much more rounded, it wouldn't be the same band w/o Morello, and to a lesser extent the bassist. Drummer I could care less about, there are only a handful of drummers that I can think of that distinctly sound different (Tim "Herb" Alexander from Primus stands out the most, with all his little cymbals and minor touches that flesh out his drumming). There are no moments on Velvet Revolver's CD where I think "damn, good thing Slash was playing on this CD", whereas every song on Audioslave's CD has very distinct Morello moments.

As far as the copy protection, no of course I didn't agree to the installation. However that doesn't seem to matter. When I go to rip it, it gets constant stutter errors, like the CD is scratched to shit. I haven't encountered one like this before. Most of the other ones simply made it impossible to rip the first track by somehow making the drive read the first few bits over and over again. And that method doesn't even seem to work with newer drives (ones that I couldn't rip before on an older drive I now can with a cheapo DVD drive I bought). Beastie Boy's new CD also had a pop up when I inserted the disc, which I disagreed to, and after that it was smooth sailing. Not Velvet Revolver, though. I imagine there is a way to circumvent the copy protection, I just haven't looked too hard yet.

As a whole, I don't think Velvet Revolver is anything truly remarkable, but I fucking love Scott Weiland and will continue to listen to whatever he creates.

I may be completely behind the times on this, but as you put the cd into the cd drive try holding down the shift key until it stops trying to autorun itself.

I seem to remember this was the way to beat it. Or at least it was.

Tried that, doesn't seem to have anything to do with autorun or software. The CD makes computer drives skip repeatedly somehow.

Thanks for the info, will have to try the methods they mention over the weekend. Perhaps a past CD installed the software/driver and I never noticed. This is a different method of protection than what was used on David Usher's CD, Beastie Boys, or Jane's Addiction (since I can rip all those just fine). I was sure to not agree to the terms when they popped up, but perhaps it was installed anyway? I dunno, will have to see.

Gonna turn off autorun on both my CD/DVD drives, no more of this shit.

Well, that was certainly easy to remove. Turned off auto play as well, it's mostly an annoying feature anyway. What pisses me off though, is that some CD in the past installed that software without asking, possibly Velvet Revolver. I would never consent to anything that pops up like that, no matter how well disguised. That's just plain dishonest.

Scott Weiland currently has the best odds on the rockstar death pool at 3:1 he dies in the next 5 years.

The guy is simply a walking time bomb.
