The Killers

I heard the single (Somebody Told Me) on the radio and liked it so I picked it up from iTunes. I've sampled the rest of the CD and it sounds pretty good but has anyone else bought / listned to the entire thing and can offer an opinion?

Some fantastic individual tunes on it (Somebody told me being one of them) and some filler. It's not crappy filler, just songs you'll skip over all the time to hear the better songs.

If nothing else you should have a listen to Glamourous Indie Rock and Roll for pure teeth grindingly embarrasing anglophile lyrics, good song but good lord the lyrics are bad.

The Killers are an interesting band who could very easily fall victim to flash-in-the-pan success. Already their single "Somebody Told Me" has become a summer anthem / club-song-of-the-moment. That doesn't bode well for an indie band who hopes to be taken seriously in the long run.

That said, it's a damn catchy song. The rest of their album is decent. I'd put it on par with the most recent Strokes album -- a few great songs, a bit of listenable filler, but nothing revolutionary.

Still, they're better than half the crap on the radio these days. And for that, we should all be thankful.
