| Old bands.. who tour with 1 orig. member.. Back on May 1st, I went to a show here w/ Prong and Dog Fashion Disco. I went mainly for DFD, and stuck around for Prong. As I was watching, I realized something- Prong is an old school band, like, something like 15 years+ (please correct me on that, it's a guesstimate). As I was watching, I noticed that nearly all of the band members were like, in their late twenties or early thirties at MOST.. save for the singer/guitarist. It was quite obvious that if he wasn't the only original member in the band, they were practicing while most of the members were still in underoos. This begs the question... How many people can be left in a band before the said band is no longer the band? I mean, with one person left, yer practically a coverband (imho). The draw of money is great.. but come'on.. heh.

| It really depends on who control's the band, how much input each member has on the band, and how important of a performer they are. Example: If 2 of the members of tool left, they would certainly cease to be Tool, since they all work together on the music. Wheras Nine Inch Nails is 100% Trent Reznor, and everyone else are just performers that sometimes move on. In Metallica it's mostly Lars and Hetfield(sp?) in control, but they wouldn't sound the same without kirk. |

| wow prong, haven't heard of that band in a long time. It depends on what type of band it is. You could take most generic punk/hardcore bands and replace anyone, as long as they sounded similar most people wouldn't even know. I think it has mostly to do with image, the least known members won't be missed 80% of the time so long as the music sounds as good. It's kind of sad when 1 guy is left and still uses the old bands name. |

| I thought Cliff Burton was Metallica's original bassist? As for Prong: I still listen to "Snap your fingers, snap you neck." That song kicks ass. |
