Not to say any of these bands are good/bad or whatever. But seriously. If you don't like it, then don't but it. Like you need to be told.

(Yes, I did just quote Urine there.)

Listen to 'Punk by the Book' by Anti-Flag. Sums up this thread.
No shit. That song makes so much sence when you read the lyrics. Another good explanation of punk is "Know it all" by Lagwagon.

...Or "The Separation of Church and Skate" on NOFX new disc. Pretty much sums up my feelings on the current state of "punk" that gets splattered all over MTV.

Punks not dead, it just deserves to die when it becomes another stale cartoon.

musac

The (international) Noise Conspiracy really seems to hold a lot of the ideals bands like DK started. Real music with real content - meaningful lyrics about politics and the US's social system.

The singer and maybe others are from the now-dead punk/hardcore band Refused.

refused was great and so is the international noise conspiracy.

a lot of peple argue that punk isn't dead. often times those are the guys sporting sex pistols shirts still. i guess punk isn't dead if you look at the true punk, not the people trying to be punk.

emo is cool too.

emo is only cool if it pushes you to suicide.

Good Charlotte, The Used, AFI, Simple Plan, etc
I also feel that good charlotte and simple plan are absolutly horrible. I used to hate emo/punk - my roommate would play incubus 24/7 and I ended up punching him and getting in a verbal fight with him over it.. it pissed me off so much. However, that changed when I heard finch; they rock. I don't really think you can group the used and afi in the same catagory as those two other bands.. the used has a few good songs as does afi - although, I tend to favor bands like finch, linkin park, phantom planet, the june spirit, the ataris, boxcar racer, and incubus. If you honestly listen to these guys indepentantly of good charlotte and simple plan they might grow on you.. as they did on me. I'd say I have a pretty broad spectrum of musical taste, I try not to limit myself to just one genre or whats cool at the time.. I just don't have enough time to do that in this life. I love bands like distpatch, DMB, OAR, mayer, jack johnson.. I love jazz.. from time to time i listen to classical.. to me its alot like trance/dnb in the idea that the invoke different experiences they tell a story with the absence of words.. I love 80s when im partying.. I really like Dashboard Confessional's acoutics.. before they went huge on mtv.. specifically songs like swiss army romance and handsdown. NIN, tool, aphex twin, and squarepusher are also big on my playlist. I love trance especially when im thinking about something just helps me think I guess.. I mostly listen to dnb, tiesto, and the gemini projeckts.

But most importantly i'd say you have to open up a bit more. The fact that you grouped the used in the same catagory as those two other bands says alot. Anyone who is familar with the genre would know that.

Linkin Park is, in my opinion, easily one of the most overrate bands. Even when I listened to that type of music I hated them. It seems all their songs sound alike and are truly just a guy whining about his personal problems.

If I wanted to hear that I'd take off my headphones.
