| Elf Rotten Tomatoes is loving it. Real high reviews...looks like this could be a x-mas classic. Last edited by Warrik : 11-04-2003 at 05:34 PM. |

| Aside from the cliched "Nobody believes in Santa anymore! Oh no!" bullshit that has been the focal point of every christmas movie in the last 20 years, I gotta say, I loved Elf. Seriously, don't let the PG rating throw you. There are a few lines of really dark humor that just goes way over the head of pretty much every little kid, but to those that get it, it's hilarious. Kyle from Tenacious D pops up for a minor role, but he still manages to deliver one of the best lines in the movie (I don't remember it exactly, but when you see it, you'll laugh) So, yeah. Whoever said "Best PG comedy ever" actually has a legitimate claim. If you can handle being in a movie theater with a billion 4-year-olds, by all means... go see Elf. Of course this is all my opinion so don't sue me for your $9 if you don't like it ![]()

| This movie was just 'OK'. There are some funny scenes, but DO NOT expect Old School type humor here. If Will Ferrel was not in this movie..it would have totally sucked ass. When I went, about 10 people just got up and left about 1/2 - 3/4 of the way through. Kids will probably like this movie..sub 13 and younger. Wait for it on DVD, save your $8-10 tix fee. |

| For PG rated humar, it was great. I haven't laughed out loud as much in a movie all year. You're not going to see Will yelling and calling people A Horses Ass, he's an elf and it's a PG movie. I wouldn't call it the cutest Xmas movie in 20 years, but close and Will is hillarious.

+15 Internets | 5 words can describe this movie for me "steaming pile of dog shit". The beginning had some nice light humor, and Ferrell was funny... but what the hell happened in the last half hour/hour of the movie. The dangerous horses, the 4 men in black chasing Santa, what the hell, seriously. Plus Caan's character seemed to go from Satan to Jesus in about a new york minute. I knew it was going to be really kiddy, but it was just pure crap past the whole introduction of Buddy to New York. |

| First of all... no comedian is as good in their movies as they were on Saturday Night Live. Period. I don't care who it is, the wonderful writing + their good interpretation of it was what made them so liked. Admittedly, I've stopped watching SNL because the funniness has dropped off. I'd have to say... my favorite guys from SNL were Ferrell, McDonald, and Sandler. Back on topic... about Elf. It was ok. It was certainly not a movie that had me rolling, but it had its moments. I don't see how in the hell it's at an 82% on Rotten Tomatoes, though. I'd say it's a solid 60%. Will Ferrell was my absoulte favorite guy while on SNL (I'm only 20, but have seen the last 15 years worth). He was so great on the show, but not so much so in his movies. Old School sucked, and this wasn't great, but I didn't go into it with high hopes so it met my expectations. If you're looking for something to keep you rolling the whole time, don't bother. If you're looking for a few good laughs, then go see it. That's about all I can say. |

| Took the g/f to see this tonight and was really good. Had me laughing throughout the movie, Will is one of the funiest guys out there. And Old School is hillarious.

| I took a date to this movie.. She liks will ferrel on SNL, but she was bored and asked me to leave. I couldn't argue that it was good enough to stay, so we walked out, making it the 2nd movie I've ever walked out on. It's that 'it's so annoyingly stupid that *I* am embarrased' type of comedy. I really don't think that kind of comedy is funny at all. But that's just my .02 Will ferrell in 'angry boss' skit on SNL rules all though.. I AM GOING TO KILL YOU!!! |

| i really enjoyed elf. you have to keep in mind that this is a pg christmas movie geared towards kids, so of course it's going to have some cheese factor and ridiculous plot turnarounds. ![]()
