How does shad0w's client differ from the Burst! one? I've been using Burst! all along and I'm really happy with it.

How do any of them differ from "bittorrent"? It seems to work just fine...no worthless options or anything...just downloads the files. What more do you need?

Burst! has a better interface and has options for controlling the number of UL streams and the max UL bandwidth used... I didn't use the original client for very long, but I never found those options in it. I run a ShoutCAST relay among other things, and can't be having one app hog all my UL capacity.

Fortunately no one's made an alternate client which allows people to not UL at all, that would pretty much defeat the whole purpose of bittorrent.

ptc.sourceforge.net - personal torrent collector

their 0.8 version is non functional, so download the newest 0.7 instead.

PTC looks like it has all the same features as Burst! or bt++, with 10x the bugs as a bonus.

Something else everyone should be aware of with BitTorrent: all anyone has to do to get the IP of every single person downloading and seeding the file(s) is open the torrent on their machine. Downloading movies or music with torrent is practically begging the MPAA/RIAA to sue your ass, unless you're the kind of jackass who 'borrows' bandwidth from unsuspecting idiot neighbors who have unprotected wireless points (which has gotten the wrong person sued on at least one occasion already). Even the stuff I download occasionally--TV shows--is probably risky, but I hate to waste my Easynews quota on that shit.

Thumbs up

I was using Spider's for a while until every so often I'd get a rejected error when trying to get some files. I'm now trying out PTC since the interface is pretty simple and Burst!'s dos window was weird and ugly to me :O
