+2 Internets | Berserk - Episodes 1 & 2 Here are the first two episodes of the Berserk series. As I said in an earlier thread, the first episode is very good, but it also contains many spoilers for events that occur later in the series. I strongly suggest that you not watch the first episode until you've seen the rest of the series, or else many of the surprises may be ruined for you. Trust me. You won't miss anything, since the timeline of the first episode begins AFTER the other episodes. Right Click Here and select "Save Target As..." to download Berserk - Episode 1.divx Right Click Here and select "Save Target As..." to download Berserk - Episode 2.divx For the video to work, you will need the Divx 5.05 codec (which will allow your movie player to recognize the video stream), which can be found HERE. You may also need the Fraunhofer MP3 codec (which will allow your movie player to recognize the audio stream), which can be found HERE. To install: Run the file, click off all of the checkmarks, then select Audio Codecs, and checkmark the "Fraunhofer MPEG-Layer 3 codec" tab. (P.S. Do NOT watch the first episode till you've seen the rest of the series!)

| If you feel that strongly about it, just remove the first episode and host numbers 2 and 3. That way, you can rest easy knowing everyone will get the full enjoyment out of it, and I'm sure nobody will go apeshit about it. |

+2 Internets | Oh, I figure I'll let each individual decide whether they want to see it in order, or if they want to take my advice.

| For me, the first time I watched this series, the first episode was such a mess that I forgot about the plot points it hints at long before they became revealed during the main part of the series. Basically, I think the way that they did it, with the last episode first, is a really good idea. Don't worry, no spoilers are inc: The ending to this anime is very, very powerful. No one can deny that. To go from that powerful of an ending to an episode basically just saying "and here's what he did after" wouldn't really work too well. For the most part I'd say just go ahead and watch it, but it doesn't really matter.

| So far it looks good. Basically that's all I wanna say so far, I watched episode 2 first and then the other (1st). There's a lot of speculation right now that I need answers on, so I won't really make comments before I've seen 2 more episodes or just 1. Stuff I conclude already though. Different from Rurouni Kenshin is the environment. While Kenshin was happening around 1900 with the beginning of a new era (government) and the revolutionary stuff with trains being built etc., Beserk is taking place within England (most likely) with knights, bandits, castles, kings and swords. The main character, Gatsu, wields an enormous sword. Too big, I think. He manages to swing it around fairly quick in comparison to it's size and how fast others are and in consideration to it's actual huge side. It looks great though, but realistically, it doesn't hold. Fortunately and different from Rurouni, you see the fight scenes more detailed. In Kenshin, the scenes tends to go totally black with a lot of "swooshes" and "zwiiings" and then you have some cuts and Kenshin stands with 10 people lying at his side. This doesn't appear here, you usually see him do the actual cuts and there is a great amount of difference in the blood amounts too. It's not totally gore but fairly realistical imo (taking into consideration he's literally cutting off very huge parts of a body whereas Kenshin usually just blunted them). So far it looks good and I'm looking forward to seeing the coming episodes. Yet again, thanks for hosting these to Searyx. The reason why I'm restraining to make some comments is that I do not have the information to draw any reasonable conclusions yet. I CAN conclude that this is not a natural series, but supernatural with monsters and unknown forces. How Gatsu is, IF/where/how he got em, you haven't been told yet. What the actual plot looks like could easily be different than I'd imagine, and how Gatsu's past is, is neither revealed yet. Comparing to Kenshin it was all fairly simple and there wasn't that much overnatural stuff happening. Kenshin had a past as the most powerful and strong killer ever in Japan and lived happily in retirement hanging around and helping the friends and the trouble he ran into, relying on his old skills as the Battousai. Sure sometimes he got to fight some weird guys and he could jump very high and had unhuman speed (or just utterly skilled hehe), but not what I define over/supernatural in the genre of anime :P Last edited by Zanoan : 09-24-2003 at 10:02 AM. |

+2 Internets | That's why I went ahead and hosted Episode 1 first anyway. People can decide for themselves that way.

| the actual ending of berserk doesn't exist yet.. episode 25/1 is only up to about volume 12 of the manga. granted, it's an adaptation and not the exact story of the manga, but it's still a very good springboard for the series. after you guys watch it i'd STRONGLY suggest picking up the manga once it's available here. it's been released up to volume 25 in japan so far. i watched berserk on dvd, it's one of my favorite (and most disturbing) animes i've seen yet. imo, it blew both the "emotional" and "disturbing" factors of eva right out of the water. searyx, if you had the dvds, i'd strongly suggest putting the outtakes up after the whole series, they're in english, but absolutely hilarious.
