+58 Internets | 08/26/03 The final plug on The Fountain has been pulled. According to NineMSN, the movie's elaborate sets, including a 10-story Aztec temple, plus costumes and 800 other set pieces (which cost producers roughly $10 million), will be sold at auction on Australia's Gold Coast this week. (ComingSoon.net) Aug. 30, 2002 Pitt Leaves Fountain, Goes to Troy Brad Pitt has had enough splashing around in The Fountain — according to Variety, the superstar hubby of Jennifer Aniston has bailed out on Darren Aronofsky's on-again, off-again sci-fi flick, due to concerns about the script's complexity. This would seem to put the final nail in the coffin for the project, which tells the psychological tale of a man and has story lines that occur in the present, 500 years in the past, and in the future. The Fountain had previously been postponed because of script rewrites and co-star Cate Blanchett's pregnancy, and later was put on hold because costs soared above the $60 million budget (which already dwarfed the $4.5 million budgeted for Aronofsky's last movie, Requiem for a Dream). Warner Bros. is looking for a replacement of equal star caliber, but the film may be dead in the water. Pitt's moving on quickly, however, and is in talks for the role of Achilles in Wolfgang Petersen's Troy, an adaptation of the The Iliad, for which he's likely to make substantially more than the $6 million he'd settled on for The Fountain. Pitt is also rumored to be co-starring as Neal Cassady with Billy Crudup as Sal Paradise in a Francis Ford Coppola adaptation of Jack Kerouac's On the Road. I thought the idea was cool, and Brad Pitt sporting the Jesus beard was awesome... was looking forward to it ;( Supposidly Johnny Depp was the rumor replacement, but alas we shall not see our fountain. +10 Internets | Well here it is finally. I'm excited just from playing around with the website. I get the sense from the trailer they are "GalaxyQuest"ing the marketing, ie: not exactly sure who they are aiming for demographically. Anyone else still interested in this ? *Edit - from Wikipedia for what it's worth. "The Fountain had its world premiere at the 63rd Venice International Film Festival on September 2, 2006. At the press screening, several critics booed the film. At the film's public screening the following evening, however, The Fountain received a 10-minute standing ovation." Honestly, bullshit like this just makes me want to check it out even more. Last edited by Speedteeth_DRo; 11-15-2006 at 02:06 PM.. |

| What kind of a critic actually boo's a film at a press screening? Aren't they supposed to at least fake professionalism, or am I being naive? Oh, and I'm somewhat interested in this movie. Not really sure what to make of it, but still want to see it.

+9 Internets | Requiem was my top favorite movie for a long time. I think Aronofsky can do no wrong, seeing as he is also the writer/director for The Fountain. Plus look at those visuals. This movie looks gorgeous as all hell. Definately smoking out before seeing this one.

| Just got back from seeing it. Amazing. Alot of people will not like it, which makes perfect sense. But its one of the best movies in a long time. A number of reviews have called it 2001 with heart/romance. I agree.
