| More Matrix 2 spam I had to start a new thread just to emphasize how much this movie blows hairy asshole. That and it's been awhile since I posted here ![]() Matrix 2 is = Godfather 3. Both originals along with every copy of these films should be placed in a large bonfire and be completely wiped from the collective memory banks of the populous. I wouldn't waste your money on Matrix 2 for numerous reasons that plenty of your fellow board lurkers have already addresses. |

+1 Internets | Godfather 3 was great. Only thing that dragged it down in parts was Sophia Coppola. Other than that, I loved it. I'd see it again just to see Al Pacino's ending scream.

| damn... "Only thing that dragged it down in parts was Sophia Coppola." I actually have to agree with Searyx on this one - she stinks. I think I'm going to cut together an "Al Pacino's Greatest Shouts and Hollers" montage: "Hooo-AAAH!" "GIMME ALL YOU GOT!!!" "ATTICA! ATTICA!" "SAY ELLO TO MY LEETLE FRIEND!!!" ...I'll make a fortune on ebay...right behind that dude with the Super CD... |

| lol hehe Gerbil...that's one of my all-time favorite Pacino quotes...but you forget the second part of it: "Because she's got a GREAT ASS!!! And you got your head...ALL THE WAY UP IT!!!". I can't think of a movie where Al doesn't have a yelling scene. |

| Well, instead of dropping another thread I'll just ask: why are people quoting The Animatrix like scripture when referring to the Matrix movies? For all intents and purposes it looked like fucking Japanese fan-fiction anime. In other words it has no bearing whatsoever on the ACTUAL story of the Matrix, much like me writing "And Gandalf lived happily ever after" would not make it so in Tolkein's world. wtf? unless the screenwriter for those movies was directly involved in the anime... |

However I would say that one thing that makes GF3 not as good as GF or GF2 is the reason for fighting. In GF1, the Corleones fight because Vito is shot by Sollozo. In GF2, it is because Hyman Roth attempts to assassinate Michael. In GF3, they are fighting over....a company (yawn) | |

the animatrix videos are written by the wachowski brothers; the same guys who wrote and directed al 3 matrix films. all of the storylines in the animatrix are considered to be part of the movie storylines. as well "enter the matrix"; the video game was also written by the wachowski brothers; they even filmed an extra hour of movie quality video for the game during the filming of matrix 2 & 3. the animatrix videos were all directed by differant people; this was done not only to conserve time but according to a WB interview they wanted to make each animatrix visually distinct and they chose differant directors for artistic skill. each animatrix short film extends differant ideas or history that is only mentioned in passing in the films. for example; in the captains meeting at the beginging of matrix:reloaded niobe emptys the contents of a package onto the table and than debriefs the other captains on the machines drilling into zion. the animatrix "final flight of the osiris" shows the ship which discovers the machines drilling into zion and the final moments of their death as they try to deliver the message back to the resistance. the depth of the story doesnt stop there either. if you play through "enter the matrix" you would get to see the package picked up from the osiris drop off point, and taken to the meeting. all of this just to flesh out the backstory of where the package in that one scene comes from. other animatrix shorts are more open to debate; for example "the second renaissance" parts 1&2 are exerpts from zions historical database. these show what morpheous was refering to when he explains to neo "we blocked out the sun". however; it leaves open some new questions such as"are these actual news clips? or is the zion historical database yet another creation of the machines? regardless it shows you what morpheus has seen and believes, and is the basis for zions historical beliefs whether they turn out to be accurate or not. "program" is an example of yet another training program and gives a glimpse of another resistance crew at work. "detective story" shows trinity at work searching for the one, prior to finding neo. the game "enter the matrix" also further weaves in and out of the matrix:reloaded plotline, explaining minor side details about niobe and ghosts role in the film. anyway, there are more animatrix short films to come. some time in june they will be releasing the animatrix DVD which contains 9 short movies; the 4 from the matrix website, the 1 that was released only in theaters (in front of dreamcatcher), and 4 more that have not been released anywhere else. according to the wachoski brothers, to truly understand the entire world of the matrix and view the entirity of the storyline you would need to watch all 9 animatrix films, play through enter the matrix, and watch all 3 films. +14 Internets | "The Second Renaissance" were some of my favs of the collection, however....there are some issues: 1) The video pretty much shows who struck first...the humans nuke the fuck outta the machines, then the machines started attacking the humans. Why would Morpheus say he didnt know who did in the first movie? 2) Furthermore, even if nukes didnt hurt the machines heat or radiation wise, wouldnt the EMP emited by a nuclear blast fry the machines? I liked the shorts though...you really feel bad for the machines at the start. And I doubt the machines would fabricate the events that transpired...thats VERY human unfortunatly. We do that same shit to our own species...do you honestly think mankind would be above doing that to another race that they even question the validity of "being alive"? But those 2, Osirus, and Beyond were my favorite shorts. The last one by Peter Chung reminded me sooo much of Aeon Flux though, especially the way it ends hehe. The man still loves that girl ;p I really liked Flux too until they made that craptacular tv series post-liquid television. Maybe if MTV didnt make them tone it way down it would have been better. Still loved that final Aeon Flux short where that invading dude mows down waves of soldiers...then finally comes to that swordsman, laughs because the guy has no gun, shoots, but then the swordsman deflects the bullet with his sword and guts the guy. Hehe ;p

+29 Internets | Well, I think that your small issues with the animated shorts can be explained by the fact that The Matrix I don't think was ever intended to be such a huge success, and that there are bound to be inconsistencies since it wasn't all written or conceived at once. And as someone else above said, it's possible that the Renaissance parts are partially or totally fake or incorrect. But I doubt that. Like I said, I think it's just accidental inconsistencies. |
