| X2 - Discussion - MAJOR SPOILERS, STAY OUT IF NOT SEEN :P This movie kicked so much arse its unbelieveable. Even knowing that Jean would die (thanks Worthless, fag) didn't really ruin any of it. They left soooo many storylines open to continue the series. I'm betting heavily that X3 will be about the Phoenix. I mean, you could already kinda tell, with her fiery aura when she uses her powers before she goes down, then in the end, there's a shape in the waters, kinda fire-ish, in the form of a bird. Colossus was awesome too, even though he only gets about 2 minutes of screen time, oh well. The fight between Wolverine and Lady Deathstryke was just.... I dunno, weird. It just seemed a little too convenient how it ended too. The planes flying through the tornados was awesome, but I really don't see how even a mutant could create THAT many tornados, in 10 seconds. I mean, really, even with control of the air and such, it just doesn't seem possible. :P Magnetos escape was pretty good. I found it a LITTLE hard to believe that he could get THAT much iron out of a guy's blood though, even if it was all injected. Wolverine gets shot in the head with a bullet at one point, in all the comics, did he ever regenerate something like THAT? I mean, regenerating is one thing, but a BULLET IN THE HEAD? Anyway, good movie, wonder when X3 will start previews. And just two weeks until another awesome (hopefully) sequel.

+7 Internets | Escape If you saw the amount of iron that was injected in to the poor guys behind, I could see that much being taken from him. Your body has iron in it, but small amounts. It had to be a decent amount if the detector almost picked it up and prevented him from entering. I do wish that Colossus was in the movie more, but I'm sure there will be plenty more chances. On the note of Jean Gray, when she was holding back the water, I figured she was going to transform. I started thinking that when she stopped one of the two rockets. But is it just me or doesn't it take her a LONG time to actually change? She was Jean for a good long time in the comics. I'm not to fond of Gambit being replaced with Iceman in regards to the love with rogue. DAMN IT I WANT GAMBIT! Anyway, on the subject of rogue, the comics have her being amazingly strong and able to fly. I can by not having her fly in the movie, but what about her strength? One last thing is the boy that was changing the channels with his eyes, who is he suppose to be and what are his power(s)?

| I don't think the boy has anything to do with the story. (Yet) IMO he's just another mutant to fill up the school for the directors. ![]() In the cartoon at least, Jean gained the Phoenix power while saving the rest of the X-Men from a solar flare, inside a space shuttle. She had to pilot the shuttle, and trained to protect herself with psychic shields. The rest of the X-Men and shuttle crew were inside a protected compartment, inside the cargo hold. I didn't read the comics about this part, but it's supposed to be closer then the movies are, at any rate. So she didn't even really "die" in the cartoon. She just slowly gained more and more Phoenix power, until the Phoenix entity took over, to save the galaxy from some alien stuff, etc. And yeah, I guess his skull stopped the bullet. :P Wouldn't that much iron be like, harmful to your body though? lol

+7 Internets | way better than X1 It was a hell of a lot better than the first one. I was impressed. What did you guys think of Nightcrawler? I think they did him better than I expected. The teleportation was very cool. I don't remember him being religious in the books though. Characters we need to see more of in the next one: Colossus and Kitty Pryde. Characters it would be cool if they introduced: Blob, Sabretooth, mutant hunting Sentinels, and that super mutant hunter Nimrod. Somewhere I thought I heard that Sentinels would be in this one. The Jean Grey/Phoenix storyline was defninitely foreshadowed at the end. I don't remember too much of it but somehow she gets reincarnated. |

She got super strength, invulnerability, and flight when she was a bad guy. She first met the X-Men as a bad guy working with Mystique. During this first fight, she held onto a hero named Mrs. Marvel(I think that was her name) long enough to permamently steal her powers of super strength, invulnerability, and flight. Really, her only upside without those powers is a nice subplot device with her not being able to touch the people she loves. But they threw that out the window when she kissed Iceman with nothing happening to either of them. I understand they couldn't add the Mrs. Marvel story to the first movie, but they could have had those powers explained off as being her own or something. Quote:
But now I must whine about the only part of the movie that dissapointed me! Colossus! I almost got a woody when that giant, armor clad brute stepped through the secret door and turns to Wolverine and goes, "I can help you." I was like, "YES! FASTBALL SPECIAL, BITCH! EEET IT!" and then Wolverine was like, "Help them!" and I was like, "FUCK YOU BITCH! FUCK YOU AND YOUR STUPID FUNNY HAIR!" ![]() | ||

| I think the theory was that Bobby did some sort of frost covering on his lips the first time, and the second time, someone slipped the tongue and power drain action started happening. I think they are allowed to depart a little from the direct storyline of the comics, cos no one in America wants to see a story about a shuttle breaking up on reentry. If memory serves, in the comic Jean was dying/about to die/already deaded from the radiation (she couldnt shield it all) and the Phoenix Force as a somewhat sentient entity came in and melded with her to save her life or something. Only later (in the infamous Marvel tradition of "we skipped a panel, here's the REAL history") did we find out that Jean actually died in the shuttle and that she is really Phoenix now. At any rate, the movie overall was definitely a win. Quite similar in tone to ESB, its a little bit darker, there's loss, some mixing of good and evil (Luke, I'm your father!), and Nightcrawler totally fucking rocks. Unless X3 has muppets or is "X3: The Jubilee Story", I'll rank this above the Holy Trilogy. |

| Hehe I loved when Iceman's parents asked what Wolverine's profession was and he said; "Art." And hell yes, Nightcrawler surprised me quite positively and the first shots in The White House were just great. =) Last edited by Zanoan : 05-03-2003 at 01:57 AM. |

| Yeah, I will also say that both X movies have a great sense of both comedic timing and pacing. They don't try to be funny when things are life and death, really only when they are in "exposition mode" and things could be somewhat boring, a little is put in to pick things up. |
