Dream movie based on fantasy. This thread asks a simple question. If you could have any movie made based on a fantasy series, and it was done perfectly.... what would it be? I have a few, but I'll keep it simple. Preacher. (Dark Horse) Anybody who has read the entire series knows that it is in and of itself proof that comics can be and are an art form. The Dark Elf Trilogy, by Rob Salvatore. Regardless of it's popularity, Salvatore really does write well and makes you give half a crap about the characters. This is just a spur of the moment thread, I'm sure there are plenty of splendid ones I've missed. Contribute, I'd like to hear what others people would like to see. And don't say Watchmen. (haha jk)

bum bum bum...Morrow's City of Truth, just because he had some funny stuff in there! oh, you said series...means more than 1! n/m. The towing jehovah trilogy wouldn't make a very good movie, unfortunately =\ in that case make that Ring of Destiny trilogy by (? forgot the author right now), just because I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS IN THE SECOND BOOK. I couldn't EVER find it...I don't think it exists. Last edited by Iannis : 04-28-2003 at 09:32 PM.

As an addendum, add why you would want this to be made. In regards to Preacher, it was really quite a trip. God had abandoned things to wander the earth. A small town preacher named Jesse Custer had been imbued with the Word of God. (This allowed him to tell people to do things, and they HAD to do them, yet he didn't abuse this power or even use it much at all) He started wandering, along with his girl Tulip and an Irish vampire named Cassidy to find God and make Him resume his duties. It's one HELL of a tale. I recommend it to anyone who likes a well told story. In regards to the R.A. Salvatore series, he gave his characters humanity. Fantasy is an area where anything can be. And although his descriptions of swordplay fascinate me, and his monsters scare me..... the "human" elements are beautiful in their way. He can weave a battle with five people and make it plausible, and also just have a halfling fishing by a pond and make it just as interesting. A lot of people are very good at one thing, and nothing special at others. Salvatore can take any situation and make you care about it, and make it interesting. Ah well, what can I say, I suck at reviews and am hardly versed or schooled at them.

![]() Anyways, the LOTR series would be orgasmically good if it was done perfectly and in full detail. | |

Something by David Eddings. Cheap cliche ridden fantasy, I love it and think it would make an excellent film ![]() Well, other than that steaming hunk of crap that was Redemption of Althalus (or whatever it was called.) But the Elenium and the Tamuli, or the Belgariad and the Mallorean would own as films in my opinion.

I don't believe the Dark Elf Trilogy could have justice done to it by the big screen....simply put, I don't think Hollywood is capable of making a believable Drow race/city for fans and would probably cater to the masses instead. Dragonlance.....possibly....I'd be skeptical though.
