| Why do most Cult Classics suck balls? About every cult classic ive seen is a terrible movie. Do people just pretend to like these movies to be different from others? For Example Rocky Horror Picture Show - what a crappy movie. it seems any guy who would like this movie is a closet homosexual Monty Python and the Holy Grail - the most unfunny comedy ever. A movie starring carrot top and vin diesal would be funnier Evil Dead Trilogy - possibly the crappiest movies ever made? THIS IS MY BOOMSTICK! you are a faggot ash your movies fucking suck Can anyone actually name a good cult classic? |

| yeah, rocky horror is gay. It's really mainstream, but since teenagers dressed in drag go to see it every other friday night it's "cult." monty python can be funny. Watching the quest of the holy grail 200 times...it loses the value. I must disagree, Bruce is the man. AoD was his sell-out movie to get money, and ED1 was an actual attempt at a horror movie. But sticking them all together makes me giggle. I seriously wish I could find Within the Woods, or whatever the name of their 15 minute 'pilot' for the evil dead was. Watching Bruce become the demon-possessed killer would rock. Anyway, a good cult movie... I love The Ruling Class. Peter O'Toole is my god of love. If i felt like putting some thought into it i'd come up with more. |

| I think Rocky Horror Picture Show is actully pretty damn funny. It's better to watch it in a theater w/ all the crowd participation on it's own it's a pretty crappy movie, funny though. Monty Python and The Holy Grail - Like someone said the first 150 times you see it it's pretty funny w/ some classic lines that a lot of people still quote. But after awhile it gets old. Evil Dead Trilogy - I don't know how you can say these movies suck. Sure they don't have top notch special effects but man are they gory and AoD is actully pretty funny. Bruce Campbell is the man when it comes to one liners. "This is my BOOMSTICK!" and all that jazz. Two movies I didn't see listed that I wanted to bring up and those are Dead Alive and Night of the Living Dead. Dead Alive movie is one of the most vile disgusting movies I've ever seen but it's so damn funny that I can't help but love it. Plus the fact it's directed by Peter Jackson just makes it all the better. Nothings better than watching Dead Alive and then LoTR and seeing what a diffrence a boat load of money makes for a movie. Night of the Living Dead is also what I would define as a cult movie. If you watch the movie now it's really not that scary but back in the day (according to my parents anyways) that was THE movie. Now if you watch it it's not scary at all.

| Cult classics "suck" for a reason. In a way it's their defining characteristic. Generally speaking they are movies that did terribly in the theaters because they don't appeal to a wide audience. For some reason or another, however, they survive and gain popularity in some non-traditional fashion. Rocky Horror is a perfect example. It appears mainstream NOW because the damn thing has been around (and cult) for over 25 years, but will remain cult, in my opinion, until they re-release it and it does very well (which I hope they never do). Personally, I like most the movies you listed (all except Evil Dead 3), but my favorite is definately: Dead Alive (Unrated of course). |

| if everyone liked them, they wouldnt be "cult", they would be mainstream. the only thing that seperates them from the trash that gets forgoten is that a handful (compared to the mainstream masses) remain dedicated to them. the ones that can be called "cult classics" are basicly the best of the worst. to each his own. if you find that you dont like any cult classics, chalk yourself up as average and stick with the hollywood mainstreams. most likely, youll eventually find a movie that you liked but most people didnt; and if you keep looking and finding others that also enjoyed it; but, it remains out of the critics choice lists. well, youll have your own cult classic and than youll understand. |

+1 Internets | Monty Python and the Holy Grail - 8.4/10 (35,937 votes), Ranked #51 in the Top 250 I would say that Monty Python ranks a bit above a cult classic.

| Your 3 roommates are all the same age, or thereabouts I'm guessing. Ask someone 10 years older and see if they have heard of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I bet they have seen it more than once. Monty Python haven't done anything together for a long time. It's no wonder your roommates haven't seen it. As to not liking the movie, well there is no accounting for taste. |

| Cult Classics usually suck because all in all they're old films, and no matter how you look at it every film becomes old and out-dated. Star Wars 1 used to be one of my favourite films, I saw it for the first time in like 5 years a few months ago and I couldn't belive I used to love that pice of crap lol. Also Monty Python and the Holy Grail comedy was directed at a Brittish audience, or atleast Monty Python was, so as alot of Brittish humor it may not translate to American audiences ![]()
