Now, my take on the whole thing is whether or not they actually went to Hell. But that is the beauty of this movie. It plays with your senses and catapults them into a state where we "think" that is where they are going. Your left with your own opinion and that is frightening. Fear of the unknown is something that is in all of us. Read some H.P. Lovecraft and/or watch "In the Mouth of Madness". These stories really fuck with you and they stay with you a long time. EH was just that type a story: total mind fuck.

| Didn't actually see the Movie til Movie Night at my dorm in my Freshman year. Scared me to DEATH. Did they actually get back to earth in the end or were they stuck in Hell and getting ready for another round of torture? I never could figger that out.

| I always figured the blonde and the black guy were rescued and eventually got back to earth. Granted they were probably mentally scarred for life and would have to get some good drugs to ever get a good night's sleep again. Quote:

| I believe the ending was ambiguous. They might have made it to Earth safely, or the ship might have captured their saviors as well. The stories for all horror movies is essentially cheese, how good they are is all in the execution. I would have never suspected Paul Anderson would make a good horror director, but he was masterful in this movie. He created a sense of claustrophobia with the sets and camerawork that made me feel like I was right on that ship with the crew, and it made me very uncomfortable(which is a good thing). I would so not want to be on that ship. If I was, I would let myself out the nearest airlock. |

+2 Internets | Once you finally see the ships log, and realize that what happened to them, happened on THIS ship, and THIS ship is still infested with whatever did this to them. SPOOKY.

| Doesn't Lawrence Fishbourne (sp?) get sucked down to hell with the engine section of the ship while the few survivors get away in the head section, only to get back to Earth but still have the ship Possessed by hell type stuff ![]()

| I tried to watch this movie again this weekend based on some of the feedback that I got here and I just couldn't make it. It physically hurt me. I must be too old, it might've been cool fx wise when I was like 12, but, as far as serious cinema it's just not my cup of tea. Kinidyen |
