Antwone Fisher

Saw this movie on Christmas Day (one of our holiday traditions is to see a movie together) and it was quite good. For those that don't know its the true life story of Antwone fisher who's a man that faced tremendous adversity in his life and came out on top. 2 months before he was born his father was killed, and he was born in a prison where his mother had a lovely stay. He was tossed into an orphanage and got into some rather bad foster care.

The movie starts with him in the Navy and he has a huge anger management problem. After assaulting a superior officer he is given a psych review by Denzel Washington. It's during these reviews that we learn of his troubled past. I don't want to get into specifics, but I will say its a movie that will make ladies cry and probably make a few guys fight back some tears (me being one of them).

Anyhoo good movie, everyone I saw it with enjoyed it and I think it will be a career starter for Derek Luke who plays Antwone. Of course his followup movie looks to be a piece of crap called Biker Boyz, think Fast and the Furious on motorcycles! Also noteworthy is Antwone Fisher is Denzel Washington's directorial debut. He gets the job done, but nothing fancy. Eeeehh.. so did anyone else see it?
