| I hate all these commercials they have been putting in movies lately. Sure they have had a few small ones before but the last 4 I've seen have all had 10-15 min of commercials. And every damn one of them have had those same 3 damn Bod commercials and some SUV commercial. $4.50 to watch movies here, but I always go to Sunday Matinee. Not going to go at night and pay out the ass. |

+1 Internets | Here in CT, we have Hoyts and a few General Cinemas. Although I have been to a General Cinema, Hoyts takes the cake for bombarding peeps with commercials and previews. Hell, at TTT we had 20 mintues of ads/previews. Then the TTT starts, another 5 more minutes of previews. This is one reason I don't go to the movies. I just wait and rent them on video.

| first off here is the link to the old topic which had some good information in it. But I'll condense it down for you folks. http://www.fohguild.org/forums/showt...s&pagenumber=5 Basically Theaters make jack and squat off a movie shown in their theater. It works like this, when a studio starts to toss movies into theaters they work out a contract with the theater on what percentage they will get. Lets take Rush Hour 2 for example, and one of the reasons it may have been hard to find in theaters when it came out. The studio said we get 90% of the ticket sales for the first week and the theater gets 10%. The second week studio gets 70% and theater gets 30%, then it works its way down until its about 20/80 after about 4 weeks or so. Well not too many movies lately have had huge longstanding results so the theaters are losing lots of money because by the time they get a good deal of the ratio, the movie is making crap. So before all you people get in a huge huff about the commercials remember that the theater is not making a lot of money off of those movies, if you want to get angry at someone, get angry at the studios. Me personally, I think I can spare an extra 20 minutes of my life during a movie to pay less money at the theater. Besides Previews are sometimes the saving grace for a crappy movie, and some commercials are amusing. You could do what my brother does though and read a book during the commercials and previews until the movie starts ![]()

| r u guys insane? the volvo suv commercials rocks. its the only car commercial that i liked and anticipate seeing in the theaters, all the rest can rot in hell. that one racing in the streets goes on forever. over time its gotten more - i pray to the everliving jesus that in 10 years we wont have 30-45mins of commercials. |
