I liked him, till this...

You could say it was a collective effort to make that movie bad because Mark was beyond unacceptable, but even still...yeah.

I think i read on Cracked.com or something that people were pissed over Unbreakable that the movie was incomplete. the entire movie was origin and at the last 5 minutes the superhero/villain are finally recognized and then the credits roll. people wanted to see Mr Glass defeated but all they got was a small mention at the end that Sentryman or whatever he was called tips off the police and Mr Glass was arrested. i was happy with the whole movie.
No idea why people hate on Sixth Sense.

I have to say that there is a trend with M. Night movies. The trend is that his movies are getting worse and worse, kind of like a cancer patient. Look at his past movies and I will rank them on a scale of 10 (great) to 0 (worst movie ever).

The Sixth Sense (1999) 10/10
Unbreakable (2000) 8/10
Signs (2002) 6/10
The Village (2004) 5/10
Lady in the Water (2006) 4/10
The Happening (2008) 2/10
The Last Airbender (2010) ?/10

As you can clearly see the quality of his movies are getting worse and worse and if the trend holds this next movie should be around a 0/10...possibly one of the worst movies ever made. The killer is that M. Night can make a sick movie trailer and this + the success of The 6th Sense makes everyone want to see his movies. But his mystery endings have gotten worse and worse over the years because he is trying to top The 6th Sense in every movie that he makes, which I don't think he will ever accomplish. Also, this trailer was the first M. Night trailer that I saw that I said to myself "I doesn't look that good." If this movie is terrible and there continues to be no good trailers for this film this could be the end of M. Nights movie making career which is a shame because I thought The 6th Sense and Unbreakable were great movies.

I can't say I really agree with that trend, Burke. For one, Lady in the Water, why does this movie get so much hate? For the whole "modern day fairy tale" it did very well. Assume that you didn't know who M Night was, and didn't know that he had the balls to write some genius martyr part for himself, does it get the same score? I liked it, for what it was, but I went into it with the expectation of "ok here is a modern day fairy tale, a sort of dark children's story" and that's exactly what I got.

The Village and Signs I don't understand the hate for either. I can understand not particularly liking a movie, but some people act like Shyamalan killed their fucking kid or something because they figured out the twist in The Village. It's not that serious.

Ok I'll go by rotten tomatoes tomato meter. Is that a bit more accurate since it is a much larger group of people's opinions (about 200)?

6th sense 85%
unbreakable 67%
signs 74% (top critics say 55%)
the village 42%
lady in the water 24%
the happening 19%

The trend still holds. Unbreakable should be 80% imo which would make my scores exactly on the money. His movies are getting worse. While you might have liked Lady in the Water I think you can probably still agree that his movies are getting worse.

Well, luckily I haven't seen The Happening (from what I hear) but yeah, I would say that The Village and Signs were not as good as 6th Sense, but I don't think it's quite as dramatic of a decline as some people think, more like 6th Sense was different than what anyone else was doing at the time, and now that it's been done it feels obvious. Lady in the Water, I think, was different, it was a children's movie. It's like people who freak out over Cars, doesn't make sense to me, we're not the target audience for that.

Impossible to like that movie. Lady in the Water was the most pretentious piece of shit I have ever seen. It's only saving grace is Paul Giamatti.

Yeah, the idea of him casting himself as the genius writer doomed to martyrdom is pretty gay. But it's a cool children's story.

Actually the blurb I saw said it was going to be 3 movies, 1 per season, so...

You know it won't be able to hold a candle to the series, but I'm still curious all the same

thats the most disappointing part really.

Its one of the best animated series, basically ever. US and even international.
And its not getting an animated feature. That's lame.
Its like the GIjoe. Resolute is 100x better then the pos live action they are unloading on us.
