Deadpool spinoff a go

Wolverine's Ryan Reynolds Dives In for Deadpool Spinoff - Yahoo! Movies

I haven't seen Wolverine, nor planning on seeing it, but there is a small part of me that hopes maybe this won't suck.

Read the article. It says he has the ability to absorb other mutant's powers. Lame.

Here's what I don't get: The Deadpool character is pretty successful already. A decent fanbase, and a really appealing presentation for the newcomer. A badass swordweilding mercenary who is funny, and a little crazy?

I cannot phatom a reasonable argument for changing something that seemd PRIME for introduction into the mainstream non-comic audience.

Has anyone read ANYTHING from producers or writers why they felt that the existing Deadpool persona wasn't good enough?

And while I am here... can anyone find the marvel masterpiece card of Deadpool, where's he's sorta jumping down towards you, as if the viewer was below him? I am gonna say its the 1992 or 1993 card, but I can't find it anywhere.

How can you "use source material" and then not be faithful to it? Wouldn't you say instead "movie not being faithful to unrelated but similarly named material"?

Seems a little paradoxical.

I guess you might say that, if you liked using four words where one would do.

The post was only a bad joke/reference to the Wolverine thread in which it seems 8 out of 10 posts in some way talk about the inconsistencies between comics and the movie adaption/s.

Yeah this is what I don't understand. Normally when they rework a character its to make them more appealing to the mainstream.

Ryan Reynolds is already quite popular and the Deadpool character as originally written should already be more then appealing to your average movie goer.

Hopefully it'll be Deadpool Origins and be pre-fucked up mutant injections.

Ryan Reynolds played himself in Wolverine and I loved every second of it.

I'm willing to bet one trillion dollars that this is just some journalist's description and is not a description he got from any source promoting the new movie.

I would be very surprised if they made a new movie with Deadclops instead of Deadpool, considering how much nerdrage has occured. It just wouldn't be logical in any way either. Why have a character who cannot talk and then get Ryan Reynolds to play him?

I don't think anyone is that stupid to have an ugly non-talking main character. He is an okay bad guy, but as a protagonist, Deadpool is makes a lot more sense than Deadclops. Ryan Reynolds has also said he wants a true adaptation of the comics. I don't see him signing on for a Deadclops movie. More fucked up things have happened, but I'm truly expecting this movie to have the Deadpool from the comics and not the faggotry in Wolverine.

I just saw this earlier tonight. I didn't have much expectation so I wasn't really disappointed. I think it had it's moments, but failed to form/deliver a story.

Unless you saw a movie tonight that they haven't even written a script for yet, me thinks you replied to the wrong thread. But hell, I could be wrong, got a link?
