Saw this trailer for the first time tonite when i went to see Wolverine.

The ship in this movie reminds of the ones in Independence Day.

Yeah, I immediately felt like it was mixture between Independence Day and Half-Life from watching the trailer.

Hard to tell from the trailer what exactly the movie will be about, but it definitely sparked my interest. It could be a great premise, if an alien race came to earth seeking asylum. Would the major earth powers fight one another for loyalty of this new allie? Or, would it bring all humans together instead?

My problem with these types of movies is that they often try to be character driven... and you usually don't like the douchebag characters all that much... or they throw in an annoying kid or a bitch that ruins things. Keep the shit epic, keep it ominous, and for the love of god, keep the gay to a minimum.

Cool premise if that's true, Vardisk. Definitely sounds somewhat accurate from that second teaser. A story about how we manipulate/threaten an alien civilization rather than the other way around. Sounds good to me.

I know the Aborigines would find it ironic if a million alien refugees or prisoners ended up in NYC.

Actually, I don't know why, the first time I saw the trailer(with face blurred and no subtitles), seeing the ship made me think of the "V" re-make.

The clips are showing an Apartheid-like government oppressing those that are not allowed to have any power. In turn, the oppressed become petty criminals and vagrants, which reinforces the government's belief that they are doing the right thing.

Just like old SciFi movies, it is attacking the flaws in our society without pointing fingers. It is meant to make us look in the mirror and see the true monsters.

At least, that is what I am getting out of the clip. It is an interesting premise and I will see it if the early reviews are half-way decent.

Full length trailer. Cant make up my mind if the movie is going to be epic or plain crap. Pretty excited for this movie more than anything else coming out in the next couple months

What it sounds like to me is going on: Spoiler Alert, click show to read: Basically sounds like the alien ship crashed(? or some problem developed) with ~10,000 aliens in it, in 1989 and some corporation moved in to "help" them and set about quickly isolating them from their technology and has been using the aliens as slave labor and forcing them to help develop new technologies for 20 years. BUT, humans haven't set foot in the ship they came in yet, it's been quarantined. If you read the corporations website, the date they list for opening up the ship and exploring it is the same date the movie is released.
