If Vatoreus' summation is right, it will still be better than 9/10 of the movies coming out lately.

Looking forward to this one.

Anyone have a list of theaters that are showing this? It comes out today, but it looks like it's an extremely limited release, which blows ass. The trailer got me really interested and it's sitting at 86% on RT from 37 reviewers.

Not even close to me, but that's par for the course with limited release films. At least I can so see another shitty Eddie Murphy family film. Thanks Hollywood...

Getting it here in July and will definitely see it. The Angelika here normally gets everything the week after NY/LA for the small films, but for some reason I'm forced to wait until the 3rd, very much looking forward to this one.

People loving Solaris are talking about the remake right? Ive tried the original a few times but my god its slow. Like makes 2001 look like a Bay film slow. One of my friends did finally sit through the whole thing (at work where he couldnt get bored and do something else) and said its amazing though.

I'll def see Moon even though I expect this thread has the right of it in the spoilers.

Yeah, the Soderbergh remake is the one most of us are referring too. I've never seen the original, nor read the novel. Also, to jump off topic, after you mentioned the original "Solaris", it made me wonder if anyone has seen "Stalker", another film by Andrei Tarkovsky. I just heard about it maybe a month ago, and have been meaning to watch it.

Quote:
Pulled from Wiki: The setting of the film is a tiny town on the outskirts of "The Zone", a wilderness area which has been cordoned off by the government. The film's main character, the Stalker, works as a guide to bring people in and out of the Zone, to a room which is said to grant "the deepest, innermost" wishes. Residual effects of an unnamed previous occurrence have transformed an otherwise mundane rural area scattered with ruined buildings into an area where the normal laws of physics no longer apply.

Saw this tonight. Some of it very good, some of it very mediocre. Surprisingly good production values. More stuff:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Best of the movie was how it (usually) didn't insult your intelligence with standard movie cliches/scenes. Particularly when Sam2 first realizes that he's a clone, he doesn't do the standard hollywood flip out stuff.. he just gets mad, and punches his speed bag for a while and ignores Sam1. But on the other hand, there were some way overdone scenes/boringness in the 2nd half, particularly with Sam1. Hilariously, during the "sam phones home" scene, SamPrime says something off screen and a dude behind me says loudly "thats HIM!". Me and my gf burst out laughing.

Anyways not bad but kinda falls apart 2nd half and the ending is a little art film cliche complete with overlapping voiceovers etc. Meh.

They have a game series based loosely off Stalker out, called S.T.A.L.K.E.R., which uses the Chernobyl Power Plant incident (and a second one later), to create the Zone. The original game is kind of buggy but not entirely bad.

Despite pretty much knowing the entire film already, I still look forward to seeing this. A small theater in Nashville is getting it on the 10th, so I'll try to jump on that. By the way, does anyone know what the music in that trailer is from (or is it an original for the film)?

Saw this last night. It was solid, good but not great. Impressive for a debut though. As was mentioned in the spoiler above its best when it avoid cliches and worst when it embraces them.
