The Proposition - stars Ray Winstone, Guy Pearce, Emma Watson, John Hurt, Danny Huston, David Wenham. It's a western set in the Australian outback. Best western since Unforgiven and I'd rank it pretty high along with the great westerns of all times.

Speaking of westerns, anyone know anything about when/if Blood Meridian will come out? Provided it actually does get made (hard to do it justice without giving it an NC-17 rating) and provided it's done properly and provided a suitable actor is found to play Judge Holden (too bad they can't clone Marlon Brando circa Apocalypse Now--he would have been perfect), it would surpass all westerns ever made combined.

Hah, The Wizard is the best. I'm still waiting for Nintendo to bring back the power glove.

Funny Games is great too.

Jesus, the wizard... I must have watched that movie over 100 times.

I agree on Kiss Kiss Bang Bang also. When I worked at Blockbuster it was always a movie I suggested, and the customers pretty much never heard about it.

I might have misunderstood most underrated, according to those giving me - internets..

I know the films i posted have a big enough fanbase..but with the mainstream audience they are underrated... If i talk to people about equilibrium they look at me like they see water burn. Same goes for Serenity.
In the case of equilibrium it was kind of a movie that got picked up after it had been for sale for quite a bit..

Kevin smith movies in the past got a lot of heat from the press bashing it in their reviews..Yes they have a fanbase, but so does brotherhood of the wolf ..i loved that movie.

So in the mainstream audience a ton of movies get overlooked but eventually build their own little group of fans that love it.

So i based my little list on movies that didn't reach the big audience. But eventually got recognition of quite a few people.

Primer was awesome, great addition as was Carlito's Way. Green Street Hooligans was 'okay. Brazil I'm pretty sure is on some best of movie lists, so I doubt it's underrated, but great movie. Running Scares was to me, terrible accent.

Technically, for all intents and purposes, wasn't he dreaming?

Moonlight Mile was great. I'm surprised not that many people have heard of it.

I'm gonna go with the definition of "underrated" as "under the appropriate number of people have rated this film" so here are two awesome foreign flicks you may or may not have heard of.

First is Black Cat, White Cat. I don't even know how to describe it, besides it's really funny and awesome.

Second is The Dinner Game. French comedy wherein this group of guys have dinner parties every now and then with the intent to bring the dumbest guest they can find. Hilarity ensues (in French).
