| This debate is fucking hysterical. The movie would not have been good if Heath Ledger was not the Joker. He fucking made that movie. It could've been dubbed, "The Joker" instead of "The Dark Knight". For fucks sake.

| the scene that sticks out most for me of Ledger's Joker is when hes hanging over the edge of the building and laughing in batman's face. laughing becuase Batman could not beat him he has been beaten at every turn and he cant do anything to ledger. otherwise i thought he was pretty standard as a movie villain. that scene rocked though. Not to say I think he deserves the award or not. But as a villain, Ledger was pretty above par. I honestly have to convince myself that it is Ledger playing the Joker. | |

| let me rephrase, he was better than say a baddie in a stephen seagal film but i dunno if he was better than a Hans Gruber or Hannibal Lecter . Ledger did have some very good scenes. actually another scene i liked is when he made the 2 gangsters fight to the death for a spot on his team. |

| ........What? I seriously can't even see Hans Gruber or Hannibal Lector on the same level as Heath Ledger's Joker villain wise. Hannibal Lector would be up there but he was entirely ruined as a character for me in all sequels/prequels since Silence of the Lambs. Frankly, its difficult for me to conceive of villains who have been better acted. There have been some, like say Salieri in Amadeus, or Amon Goeth in Schindler's List........but there aren't many. | im talking about Silence of the Lambs, the sequels dont even come close though Hopkins was pretty damned good in Red Dragon too. Rickman is a truly awesome actor not many come close to his brand of evil. his Snape character, his role in Robin Hood and the baddie in Quigley Down Under were all fantastic. |

| The Sheriff of Nottingham was too caricatured for me to take very seriously as a villain by Rickman(I'm going to cut out your heart with a SPOON! Why a Spoon, cousin? Because its Dull you twit, it will hurt more!). And I just can't see Snape as a villain anymore after the final Potter book ruined that image. I didn't like Lector that much in Red Dragon, I can't put my finger on it. |

+9 Internets | Fuck are you kidding. I think the Joker was just pure genius. Yeah it was a movie script so everything worked perfect, but if you fallow every single thing he did it was a symphony. And the best scene was Joker walking out of the hospital all crazy like in a nurse outfit. Or maybe the scene when Gordon was promoted and he was in the jail cell clapping. Basically any scene where he didnt even speak and seemed truly insane. |

+12 Internets | Watching Batman again, I totally forgot Gary Oldman was Norman "Stan" Stansfield in The Professional, and was a total badass villain to boot. YouTube - Leon [The Professional] - The Apartment Shootout

+16 Internets | The interrogation, hands down. The way he just laughs at Batman while being beaten to a pulp is pretty much the essence of the character. The line "You have nothing to threaten me with, nothing to do with all your strength" is really when the audience gets it: this guy could really win. |
