Terry Gilliam is a fucking moron

Apologies if this is a repost.

I recently stumbled on the casting pics for The Watchman when Terry Gilliam was at the helm. WTF is wrong with that guy?

Costner?

Williams?

Thank whatever gods you pray to that he's not directing.

Seriously. Robin fucking Williams. As Rorschach. He can't even not suck in his OWN films. How the fuck was this guy going to be Rorschach? Gary Busey?

FFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!

Any respect I had for Gilliam just evaporated.

Yeah in 1991 thats not a bad list really. Though I think their choice of The Comedian is now much better.

Dr. Manhattan

"I remember meeting with Joel Silver, who wanted to cast Arnold Schwarzenegger as Dr. Manhattan: ''He's gonna be Arnie!'' We said, ''Well, he's got the physique, but the German accent...'' He said, ''Doesn't matter!'' It didn't come to anything with Joel. "

Some of Paul Greengrass' choices were inspired. Ron Perlman would have made a great comedian and jude law would have been perfect as Ozymandias.

I don't care when you point to, there was no time what so ever that Robin Williams... who's known for his high energy comedy... was going to be able to play a character that spends the whole movie either silent / fighting / speaking in a monotone. It's like finding out that Sin City was originally meant to have Patrick Stewart playing Marv.

Watch more stuff with Robin Williams.

One Hour Photo, Insomnia, his episode of SVU, etc.

terry gilliam is a god. His python animation alone is legendary but brazil, baron, loathing and his python work are all great films and several of the others are very good.

Jamie Lee Curtis was also young and hot in 1991, so that's not out of line at all. She may be doing commercials for Geritol or whatever now, but in her day she was considered one of the hotter womens in Hollywood. And not a bad actress, though she was always much better in comedies (A Fish Called Wanda for the win).
