+24 Internets | A "Superman Begins" movie would be lame as hell considering we've had a number of seasons of it already. ![]() They should just do what Marvel did with Hulk. Show Superman as they left off last time, but make him in a different image. That image better be someone bigger though, I don't like Superman being small. ![]() I'm not saying they need to go out and hire a WWE wrestler, but they need to do better than Brandon Routh.

+34 Internets | Doomsday is the way to go. Superman, if they MUST make a new one, needs to be fighting to the death. How often do you find yourself watching the movies and actually rooting for him? Fucker needs to get fucked up before I give a damn about him. "Look at me! I lifted a rock in space and now I'm in a comer! Wah wah wah, love me" Superman vs big rock = Boring as shit for a climax Superman vs Doomsday = Drama. Man of Steeling on death door and still winning will give the audience something to get behind him for. They dont have to dumb it down like the 20 minute fight in Hulk, but if they tell the story right, every punch will mean something. Seeing Superman with a fucked up face, swollen and bloody will establish him as less invincible and more believable. Make him the underdog and people will care. |

Skim quickly through the World Without a Superman/Reign of the Supermen arc in the beginning of the second film, and make the majority of the second film's plot Return of Superman. For the third film, I would also seriously consider Kingdom Come. Excellent concept, would use a lot of heroes/interesting DC characters, would deal with current issues of personal and social responsibility and incarceration/rehabilitation, and the ability for "fate" to be averted.

+10 Internets | Kingdom Come could never be done right ever. Just no way. They'd have to cut half the story to fit it in even a 3 hour movie. And half of what makes it so great is the artwork. Not to mention fights featuring 100s of super powered people would be impossible to do right. Much as I'd love to see it, I just don't see it=P

| Been done already, Superman III when Richard Pryor made the synthetic kryptonite that made him wreck shit and bang Lex's old lady. ![]() Anyways, if they can the emo shit with Lois (hello reverse spinning earth to turn back time jeez) that has plagued every film since the first superman film I think we can start to make some forward progress. Doomsday would be a good start but the franchise really needs an enema. |

| They should just use Brainiac already. Brainiac is enough to bring plot and ass-kicking to Superman's life.

| This idea is lame. We don't need any more reboots of comic movies. We know Superman's origin - he's from Krypton, has super strength, is invulnerable, bla bla bla. Superman Returns sucked because of the lack of action. And who wants to see Superman fight normal people? I want to see a Superman II type of movie again (but updated for special effects). The whole point behind Superman is that he isn't in a dark world. He fights out in the light. Batman fights from shadows, Superman fights in the light, this is how it has always been. They want to Batman-ize the Superman movies and make him dark, and all of this is because the Dark Knight made half a billion in like a week? Lame. Why don't they just give him an all black costume and have him fake a gravelly voice too? The problem with Superman Returns is that there was not nearly enough action. For the next movie, throw in an opponent that is Superman's equal or superior (like Lobo, Doomsday or Darkseid) and give us some action! I CAN FEEL THE NERD RAGE RISING !!!

| Personally, I'd vote for Brainiac as the villain he fights. A combo of the one from Smallville(Fine) and the normal comic one, except without the Terminator 2, T-1000 abilities...Infact, if they would have done that instead of Lex in Returns and got rid of the fucking kid and the Lois/Superman angst it would've been better. Brainiac vs. Superman. Actually, you know what having both Lobo and Brainiac in the same movie might work. Lobo is out to track down Brainiac...Superman ends up dealing with them both..etc..etc.. Brainiac > Lobo > Doomsday > Darkseid > Parasite > ... > Lex |

+1 Internets | Didn't Kevin Smith write a draft of a superman script once ? He had Brainiac in it. Funny story in an evening with kevin smith. Why not let him write it? he wrote pretty good comics, knows the character well, and he wrote some pretty solid comic books, Joss Whedon might even be a good choice. Superman isn't a dark and gritty character. And trying to copycat batman begins isn't the right way to go, i have a jim lee drawing of batman and superman wich shows the opposite of those characters. Superman doesn't have such a tragic story, except for his whole planet blowing up but he doesn't remember jack shit of it. Other options might be zack snyder, Frank Miller (who can write the script) or a combination of all those guys, i bet if you stuff them into a room with all superman comics you will get some grand ideas. |

| Superman Returns was fine. I know I'm in the minority of people when I say I enjoyed it, but I liked Singer's theme of Superman's burden and his complete separation and isolation from mankind. I also feel that Lex Luthor was good a villian. Obviously not the "action rockem sockem" bad guy everyone wanted but a worthy opponent none the less. Oh and Parker Posy, yeah I fell in love. I'll admit the child angle was blah, but that can easily be written away (at least the superpowers part). But I guess I can see why Singer included it, even though I don't agree. I thought Singer was trying to pay homage to the original films with the story and feel of Returns. You can argue that was a bad idea, which apparently it was since it seems he's been removed from making the next installment, but you have to recognize that that was obviously the intention. The film did not tank. It grossed about 200,000,000 million domestic, and about about another 200,000,000 million foreign and made about 60,000,000 million on merchandising and then there's DvD sales. However, it's budget was about 200,000,000 million so the return ratio wasn't as great as I guess the studios wanted it to be. I think it's a shame that Singers been dropped. X-men 1 and 2 were great comic book films, and he turned down X-men 3 so he could do Superman and we got that trash by Brett Rattner. Singer also talked about how for the second film he was going to do Brainiac and go "wrath of khan" for all the fans and for everyone who thought that Returns was boring. I mean I remember reading an interview where Louis Leterrier was offered this "NEW REBOOT" of Superman by the studios. Are we serious here? I mean The Incredible Hulk was alright, not my favorite Comic Book film but it was it was ok. But Transporter 2 was horrible. So they drop Singer, X-Men 1/2, The Usual Suspects, and offer it to Leterrier because Returns didn't gross 500 million? |

| Darker Superman stories exist but I just can't think of any good way to translate them to the big screen.
