+3 Internets | Is it just the TV mini-series put together and played on a movie screen? If so, I might catch it matinee, but I already saw the whole TV series. If it's a recreation or something, different animation, etc., I'll definitely see it. Grievous' fight against the 5 Jedi was fucking awesome. |

| Very disappointed Lucas is trying to cash in on another demographic after he realized that live action movies were something he couldn't do without destroying his legacy further. Due to his shitty advice, shit screenplay, shit actors, and too much emphasis on CGI. Yeah Lucas you got us man! we wanted to see Spiderman 3 for the prequels you dumbass fuck. He needs to sell his IP before he dies to someone that can do something BETTER with it. Or hey, how about just DO something with it? Shadows of the Empire is a prime example of Lucas's fragile ego holding the IP hostage. The fact that Shadows of the Empire was never made into a movie is pathetic. He wrote a script for nothing and then got cold feet. Lucas needs to be extorted until he signs off on this movie. The fact this movie got canned and Indiana Jones got green lighted with Shia LeFail speaks volumes of where his head is at. The Dark Knight just did epic numbers. Dark serious movies have an audience still, and Shadows fits that kind of storyline. Its time to shift gears from marketing to 5 year olds to at least 15 year olds wouldnt you say? Lucas is full of fail period.

| This is definitely not the Genndy Tartakovsky cartoon series that aired on Cartoon Network '03 to '05. It is a completely new story, I believe it is 100% cg animated. There have been trailers available for quite a while, it has come up on these boards before. edit: also, Shadows of the Empires was never intended to be a movie, there was never a script, Lucas didnt write it, which makes it better. | George Lucas.... I feel the best parts of the original StarWars trilogy were only there because of Joseph Campbell's influence. I don't believe in Mr. Lucas.

| Ya its all new movie which leads into an all new TV clone wars series, although I have not seen when the TV part is going to start airing. They need to do something with the Jedi Trials at some point, that at least could be interesting |

It's not that Lucas isn't talented, it's that success has destroyed him. He wrote and rewrote Star Wars until the final draft bore virtually no resemblance to the original. He and his crew innovated like madmen to deal with the confines of a tight budget. Actors argued with Lucas over his unreadable dialogue, and Lucas caved. While Lucas was aware of merchandising opportunities, at least when making the first two movies he let the story drive the thing while the merchandising followed (that seems to be less the case with Jedi, but even that has nothing on the prequels). But Lucas made literally billions of dollars and built a huge merchandising empire, and people stopped saying no to him. There isn't any pushback to make him create something brilliant; he creates at his leisure and his unrefined vision seems to be pretty much the final product. He is so successful that the constraints that drive filmmakers to new heights simply don't exist for him. He can have as big a budget as he wants, he can get whatever actors he wants, and he knows that any movie he puts out will make approximately three bazillion dollars because all the rabid fanboys will see it a dozen times and buy the DVD no matter how shit it is. That said, I think the Clone Wars movie looks decent. My understanding is that Lucas was checking out the technology used to make the show and said "Hell, we can use this to make a movie and get it in theaters this summer." That's pretty badass. From the trailer, the plot looks more compelling and coherent than that of the first two prequels, too, but of course that's a pretty low bar. I'll definitely check this out and expect it to entertain me. | |

The casting for the original trilogy was amazing. Everyones appearance and facial structure was consistent. The imperial captains, the admirals, and even the extra crew hands. Everything to do with the original trilogy's atmosphere was mostly thanks to the casting director. Why will the new TV show suck? Because the casting will be "hollywood" with some glowing fresh faced tanned bronzed kids on it. And their characters will be whiney little bitches. Emo is whats cool now. The 3rd prequel was a nice comeback, but tell me you weren't sick of the whiney bitch attitude from Anakin. I was like christ dude looks like you are 20 years old at least, fucking grow up and get that whine out of your voice. Someone once said to me, "you know, nobody looks like the guys from the 1920's any more. The facial structures have changed dramatically since then". I agreed but couldn't explain why. I now chalk it up to shit casting. The faces of old film had a distinctive look to them. The original trilogy casting director captured the realism of the early 1900s. This will never happen again because of the direction hollywood has taken. Essentially all the fail can be attributed to the casting director and the whiney douchbag attitudes written into the scripts to cater to an emo generation.

Fuck someone push Lucas down a flight of stairs already. Essentially the prequels pulled a Spideremo 3 before Spiderman 3 was even written. Lucas must be able to see the future. Lets all bow down to him for predicting what the market wants.

| No, it just doesn't intrigue me much. Much like the first 2 movies of the second trilogy. It's just hard to care about a bunch of clones and robots getting killed. There is no connection, no empathy. It's not some affable rebels trying to survive the oppression of the empire.. it's just some soulless clones battling some soulless robots.
