primary colors was a comedy and it was very well written and while it was likely based on clinton it wasnt a biography. dont forget wag the dog was based off the lewinski/ serbia thing too.

Bush biographers on Oliver Stone’s ‘W’

That’s America’s noble leader as he’s portrayed in the script for Oliver Stone’s upcoming “W,” starring Josh Brolin and James Cromwell as Bush 2 and 1, respectively, says the Hollywood Reporter.

Is the description accurate?

The newspaper sent copies of an October 17, 2007, screenplay to four Bush biographers for their comments, it says, pointing out someone, “close to the film” says the script has since gone through at least two drafts.

Reactions were mixed, says the story, going on the biographers said specific scenes are, “largely based in fact but noted that the screenplay contains inaccurate and over-the-top caricatures of Bush and his inner circle”.

Stone, “declined comment for this report,” and screenwriter Stanley Weiser, who wrote W said, “I have no comment other than the fact that I have read 17 books on Bush.”

But, “All four biographers confirmed the accuracy of one striking scene in which a young Bush challenges his father to a fistfight after coming home drunk,” says the Hollywood Reporter, adding:

“And while they recognized the nickname ‘Turdblossom’ for Rove, they were less familiar with ‘Balloon Foot,’ which Stone’s Bush uses for Colin Powell. And some felt that ‘Pooty Poot’ for Vladimir Putin was taken from New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd, not Bush himself.”

Overall, “the biographers said they were not opposed to the story of America’s 43rd president being told by Stone,” although Peter Schweizer (The Bushes: Portrait of a Dynasty) is quoted as saying”

“I understand this is a movie, not pure history,” but if Stone, “wants to portray this as an accurate accounting, he has some serious work to do.”

Just got back from seeing it. I wasnt expecting much but i kinda felt as it were a car wreck and I just had to look.

Its one of the most uneven films i've ever seen. Brolin is good. Whoever plays Rice is terrible. Like worst acting I've seen in years terrible. She ruins any scene shes in. Towards the beginning there are a number of good scenes but by the time it gets to the Iraq war it nose dives.

Save your money.
