Kinda funny, writers strike happens, hollywood starts pumping out real gems. I guess we will feel the effects of it in coming years though?

Basically a flying saucer lands on the lawn of the capital. The human looking alien sneaks out. The military stands guard. The alien guy goes around town, checking things out. He rents a room, makes friends with some chick and some old man. Eventually the old man figures out he's an alien and he asks what he is going to do. He basically doesn't like how the Earth is on the verge of nuclear war and he wants to prevent us from doing that. He then stops every machine on the planet Earth, with the exception of stuff that would cause people to die (planes in the air, stuff in hospitals, etc). In the meantime, a big robot named Gort steps outside. The alien guy tells the chick that if he ever gets hurt, she needs to tell the robot "Klatu Verata Niktu" (Yes, this is the movie Army of Darkness got that from). Eventually the alien guy gets shot and the robot starts to go into rape the humans mode and kills some army guys. The chick tells him the command and the robot picks up the alien guy and goes in the saucer. Alien guy gets healed. He then goes outside and is like "We are part of a big outer space government...if you guys keep doing your nuke shit, then these robots are going to come down and fuck you up".

That's it in a nutshell. So it makes sense that they're keeping the "humans are fucking shit up and they must be stopped!!!" theme and using the primary "fear" of people today. In the 50s it was nukes, in the 2000s it's global warming/the environment.
