Just saw it the other night. This movie is a cinema masterpiece; great storyline. FYI I'm a film major so I know what I'm talking about.

Its not a great movie but all the negative reviews are hyper critical. The pot brownie scene lasts like 30 seconds. The twins, while stupid, have like 6 parts in the whole movie where they have any sort of extended dialogue, and even then its like 4 lines each time. A few times they made me laugh to (the "thats cuz youre a pussy"). The narrative isnt confusing at all.

It does drag in the middle when the old ass jet transformer explains the plot. And the best part comes fairly early with the fight in the woods.

All in all I wasnt pissed about spending my money and Ill see the next one.
One thing is for sure against the backdrop of critics of this film (myself included) there will be a next one, and with the serious money they are seeing you would think a fourth at some point in time.

So if you like these types of films you are not only going to get more, but more movies along this same line it would seem. I remember there was a discussion here after the first transformer movie that some studios had snapped up the rights for other robot themed movies. I would of expected them to be doing something with those by now.

I really dont care about other robots movies and most likely wont see them. Transformers is diff though. I had tons of em as a kid. But Bay movies and their ilk will continue to exist and makes tons of money and good movies will continue to exist and not make money.

I prefer "good" movies but seeing shit from your childhood never gets old. And as far as those movies go Bay and Transformers is better than most (X-men, wolverine, spawn, GI-joe looks like shit). Sure its not as good as Ironman or Dark knight but with how bad it easily could be I dont understand all the hate. I think people just love to bash Bay.

I enjoyed it, and liked it more than the first. Of course there were things I would have changed if I were directing it, and things that annoyed me. But overall it was pretty good for what I was hoping to see and I wasn't disappointed I spent my money on it.

I even felt it was more true to the original series in a lot of ways than the first one. Most people don't remember just how whiny Starscream (my favorite) was, or how cheesy Optimus' lines were at times.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
"I rise, you fall" was fucking classic, and only Optimus could have delivered a line like that. If you don't appreciate that line, you aren't remembering the series very clearly.

I watched the original animated movie when it first came out, and I'll admit that is far and away the best thing ever done with Transformers in the name. Since I don't really expect anyone will ever recapture that, I'm satisfied enough with the current movies.

Vvoid said it best, it captured some of the essence of the original cartoon. Basically it was a 30 minute commercial designed to make kids to drive their parents mildly insane until they buy the toy they want.

The animated transformers movie was and still is awesome, but I don't really want hollywood to try and remake that because I doubt very much it could be given justice.

I may not like Michael Bay but this movie was a good summer action flick. Loosely woven together plot, large robots, explosions, crude humor and sex appeal. Sadly this is the way more and more movies lean too because that is what sells nowadays. It is depressing in a way because its indicative of how our culture has regressed.

Some people do, I'm sure. Personally, I loved both Bad Boys movies, The Rock, and The Island. I have nothing against the way Bay uses the camera, and I certainly don't have a problem with action movies that exist primarily as an excuse to blow shit up in as spectacular way as possible.

Unfortunately, the Transformers movies are nothing like those ones I listed; instead they have the massive plot holes and general retardation of Armageddon mixed with the horrible dialogue of Pearl Harbor. The CGI is impressive from a technical standpoint, but when you actually sit down to watch it it's exactly as critics say: two unidentifiable heaps of metal flailing at each other.

In the end, I feel pretty much exactly the same about the Transformers movies as that guy from Topless Robots whose review/Q&A is linked above.

Agreed.

I have nothing against pure action movies. Not a super fan of The Rock, or Bad boys. but also don't hate them. I like The Island quite a bit. And it is an unapologetic 2hour chase scene and product placement add. But it is an awesome 2 hour chase scene.

Transformers action is not good. Its a mess. and the dialogue is so bad it drags the action down. If you can just "shut it off", why is it there at all? That's the definition of editing. cut the fat.

I dont understand how people could have liked this more that the first one.

1. Was it just me or did the fucking Twins have more screen time than Optimus Prime Bumblebee, Megatron or any other Robot that was in the movie ??

2. Did the movie just have a lot of holes and decided not to bother finishing them?? What ever happend the RC car or the Twins??? They never explained most of she shit that was going on in the movie.

Anyways the only part I thought was fantastic was the fight scene in the forrest. The action scenes are worth paying to see IMO but they gave Optimus jet packs which really ruins some of it but it was nice seeing him kick ass in the forrest

I liked the movie but I have to agree the twins are just fucking retarded along with the RC car. Also when can transformers change into humans? He should have just stuck with the parents as comic relief and leave the robots for ass kicking. The parents do crack me up for some reason.

Should have ditched the RC car after the shard theft attempt. Could have introduced Jetfire in an old school fashion with Starscream finding him, putting him in a situation where he has to exterminate humans and then switches factions. Of course you would need backstory on why this comes to fruition, so you would have to cut out other shit. Dunno, I think that would have been more cool.

Second thought on that! Have Starscream blast Jetfire for his treachery and then Jetfire gives his parts to Optimus, more dramatic I think.

Yeah, I kept expecting him to do the same.. but didn't he use it when he activated Jetfire? Maybe it was too valuable to waste, since it contained the last Cybertronian knowledge and everything.

Yeah the only reason they brought JF back to life was to find a way to revive Optimus which made no sense. They didnt even know who the hell they were bringing back to life, they started freaking out when they found out it was a Decepticon and crap
