| The Mist THE MIST Release date: November 21, 2007 This is one of my favorite Stephen King stories and I have always wanted it to be turned into a movie. Frank Darabont who directed one of my favorite movies The Shawshank Redemption (Another Stephen King short story) is the director and I have really enjoyed all of his movies. So I expect good things. Here is some info taken from Variety: What is it? Stephen King's original novella, about an eerie cloud filled with otherworldly creatures, is a favorite among fans, and this adaptation is being directed by Frank Darabont, whose previous King outings include the well-received "The Shawshank Redemption" and "The Green Mile." Online buzz: "I've read some stuff like, 'I hope Darabont doesn't screw this up. He can't make a movie under three hours, or one without a happy ending' -- all not true," the director says. "Quint from Ain't It Cool News came on set for two weeks, and those webisode reports got terrific response." Comic-Con plans: Darabont, actor Thomas Jane ("The Punisher") and others will sit in on Dimension's Friday panel. Inside scoop: "It's one of the most beloved Stephen King stories," admits Darabont, "so we've tried to stay as faithful to it as possible -- though there's a couple of nice surprises that fans of the story won't see coming." To do the story justice, Darabont ditched his usual painterly, classicist approach in favor of "a very in-your-face, very verite, all-handheld look." Opens: Nov. 21, 2007

+1 Internets | Agreeing with Burkex here, one of Kings best shorter stories and if they stay anywhere close to the source material it should make a cracking film, especially with modern fx. Then again I'll watch almost any "end of days" type film or read a similarly themed book ![]()

| I'd just like to add to this that this was one of the first King stories I read when I was growing up, and I've always loved it. There are a lot of people who think he's just a dime store horror goof, but the guy is so absurdly talented it's not even funny. I remember hearing about what "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon" was about and thinking it was terrible. Then I start reading and 10 pages in I'm hooked. There's just something about his writing style and his ability to create characters and situations that are compelling that makes him in my opinion one of the three or four greatest writers of all time. If it wasn't for the let down that was the dark tower I'd probably have him at the very top. |

I don't know if they are still out there on the interwebs, but (as mentioned in the blurb above) Quint from Ain't it Cool News had 2 or 3 really nice write ups of the shoot, including video and pics. Good stuff in all.

Plus I didn't really think that music fit at all. Maybe I'm biased since I've been listening to the soundtrack from The Fountain since I saw it a few months ago, but it just didn't work for me. Hope it doesn't catch on and become the new Lux Aeterna.

| Most movie trailers do this to some degree, some will even show parts of a movie that arent in the final cut of the film. Its best to skip the trailer completely if you already plan to see the movie. |
