+18 Internets | someone missing the point of the thread. I don't think anyone out there (not even Alba's parents) think she's a great actor of any sorts. To put Cruise in that list is a damn joke though, some serious amazing roles over the course of his career. whoever mentioned sam rockwell is on the right path. most of you must not read shit outside of your circle of friends because most people in the world recognize the majority of this thread as good actors. Julia Stiles is also about one of the most horrible actress' on screen imo. underrated: Eric Bana Sam Rockwell (repost!) Rufus Sewell (sp? Dark City guy) Jared Leto I kind of feel like Hawke plays the same dude in every roll. Softspoken, mysterious dude who takes shit for the majority of a movie. And if Norton counts as underrated he's definitely on my list. First time I saw him was in "Primal Fear" and immediately loved the dude. Add in Fight Club, 25th hour, etc the dude is a badass. Also really think Adrien Brody goes overlooked in social circles, though I doubt he's underrated same way with ryan gosling. Last edited by Ham n Cheese : 06-17-2008 at 04:36 AM. |

+3 Internets | Underrated: Cillian Murphy - Someday this guy is going to get the credit he deserves. In 28 Days Later, Disco Pigs, Sunshine, and Breakfast on Pluto, he gave amazing performances. Most people know him as the Scarecrow in the new Batman movies, but few even know his name. |

The fact that he didn't win Best Supporting for Training Day is a damn tragedy. PS - Leo was banging Gisele Bundchen....how can you possibly label him as underrated? | |

| Tossing in Cruise and Cage for over rated. They play Cruise and Cage well but don't get beyond that in any meaningful way. I still enjoy quite a few of their movies but I never forget its either of them when they are on screen. They never disappear and become the character. |

+23 Internets | Overated can really be anyone popular depending on your point of view. I disagree with Robin Williams being on that list he is one of the best actors ever in my opinion. Bruce Cambell is one of the best under rated overactors ever! I am a fan yes but he played a spot on elvis. He just gets shit roles mainly so no one gets to see him more. |

| Ethan Hawk was an Explorer, and in Dead Poets Society, White Fang, the shit where the dudes crashed in the mountains and ate each other... Also, if you want to see "crazy coked out" version of him, watch Tape which is a small indie film w/Uma Thurman that gets intense at times. As to the topic of the thread - dunno, I think everyone has their place and that the people in Hollywood are as good as anyone else at figuring out who and how to preen. A lot of the underrateds I think are rated just fine, and a lot of the overrateds are not people who are in movies for their acting. The only drama I want to see Jessica Alba in "Idle Hands" unraveling is the overexpansion crisis in my pants. Other than that, I'd like to see the young Brad Pitt in more of his visceral, fuckin' balls out roles than this upper-bracket italian sunglasses and loafers version. 12 Monkeys, Fight Club, etc. |

| the only problem i got with nick cage is he keeps getting roles where he plays a genius. he is the last person i would pick to play that kind of role. he looks like he can barely tie his shoes yet he can solve mysteries all the worlds top historians couldnt solve? yeah, right |
