+44 Internets | Overrated: Benicio Del Toro. I'm still confused by his Oscar win for ten minutes of screen time and three lines of mumbled dialog. Sure, I give props for "gimmedakeyscocksuckerwhatdafuh" but come on, the guy just has a dead stare and mumbles a lot. Underrated? Traci Lords. I mean, no other actress since has been believable in that role. You almost felt like she was enjoying it, as if the camera weren't even there. |

+16 Internets | Kenneth Cranham is very underrated actor in the states, however quite popular in the UK/Europe. Most notably he was in Layercake, Rome (Pompei Magnus), Hot Fuzz, one BBC's narrator, and Hellraiser II .Malcolm McDowell is my other choice. |

| Hugo Weaving... totally underrated; or maybe its just cos hollywood only wants him for that distinct sexy voice of his. Nevertheless we need more of mr. smith. also on a sidenote, hugo would make a badass redskull for cap'merica movie & whoever disagrees can burn in hell. ![]() |

Pro tip: Just because someone is your favorite actor, or a great actor, does not mean they are an underrated actor. Overrated: Recent Pacino, DeNiro, Walken. And anyone else who has become a complete parody of themselves. Though DeNiro at least seems to try. Almost put Sam Jackson here too, but just saw Black Snake Moan and thought he was pretty good in it, without playing Samuel MOTHERFUCKING Jackson.

If I recall correctly, in Traffic he managed the impressive feat of speaking a few lines in Spanish, and then dying. It's been a while since I saw it, but it was after all the Oscar buzz hype and really left me scratching my head.

His character was totally boring on paper. He wasn't memorable. Out of all the characters, the only trait his had was that he was homies with Baldwin (if I remember correctly, it's been awhile). He changed that. Del Toro brought that character to life and made it memorable while not competing for the spotlight. That's no easy feat, and while he obviously doesn't deserve an academy award for that performance, he certainly deserves a lot of praise for his role.

| I've always thought Cage picked movies that didn't suit his style. He was great in Lord of War, but the rest are generally crap. He has this neurotic demeanour that doesn't come off well in most of the movies he acts in. Lots of really good underrated actors mentioned here as well. Many of them are super stars in their home countries though. |
